Texas A&M Galveston Professor Hits ‘Breaking Point,’ Fails Entire Class
slaphim

A Texas A&M Galveston professor says he hit a “breaking point” as he failed an entire class of students in his management course that he said required “security guards” for him to feel safe teaching.

In a scathing email sent to students in his Strategic Management class, Texas A&M Galveston professor Irwin Horwitz called his class a disgrace to the school and said “it became apparent they couldn’t do some of the most simple and basic things they should have been able to do,” KPRC-TV reports. Horwitz said a semester of backstabbing, lying, cheating and disrespect has caused him to fail everyone in the class and that he will no longer be teaching the course.

“Enough was enough,” Horwitz wrote in the email obtained by KPRC. “Yesterday I reached the breaking point.”
The lengthy, fiery email to students explained to students why they would all be receiving failing grades, included is Horwitz’s claim that the students were spreading untrue online rumors about his wife and that he felt threatened enough to physically teach the course that he required police protection.

“I was dealing with cheating, dealing with individuals swearing at me both in and out of class, it got to the point that the school had to put security guards at that class and another class,” said Horowitz. He said students’ complete lack of maturity and general incompetence proved they weren’t fit to enter the workforce.

Welcome to the Millennial Generation.

NO consciences, NO morality, NO "right or wrong."

This is who Obama appeals to. This is why it will be easy to take this country down, because these fools believe everyone just wants to give them whatever they think they want, and if anyone doesn't, they think they have a RIGHT to cheat, steal, destroy and take it by any means necessary.

Not really. The University said they are scraping the grades. A replacement professor will evaluate them purely on academics. It is just behaviorism, nothing to do with god. If you want to place blame on a generation of people, which is dumb, it would be the boomers fault, as, just in this case, they are rewarding bad behavior.

When you reward bad behavior, you get more bad behavior. Although, to be honest, the professor sounds a bit unstable to me. But some of the universities in the US really are fucking like third world ghettos... so maybe.

No that the university should have backed their professor and failed the entire class.

If you are a great student with straight As it won't phase you, easily explainable in an interview.

First off...I am very proud to go to Texas A&M University (College station), and I agree with the professor 110%.

ESPECIALLY if the kids were cheating. I don't know about A&M Galveston (a satellite school), but Texas A&M has the most strict honor policy in the nation.

I have seen 3 kids get caught cheating who were removed from the University on their "first strike".

If they were cheating, they should not only fail, but they should be removed from the university immediately.

I have had to sign this honor statement on EVERY test I have taken in college, and they should be held to the same standard.

There are a lot more kids that probably shouldn't be going to college, but except for student loans, they can go now. These are probably the ones that should have taken up a trade after high school...

Good for him.

For some reason, people used to assume that I would become a college professor, and some of my professors tried to encourage me along those lines.

But I took one look at the classes and knew it couldn't be.

I knew I would want to flunk 90 percent of every class.

They simply didn't belong in college.

It would never be allowed because the college scam is to grab as many of those student loan dollars as they can.

Professors would be forced to pass apes if they could be enrolled.

There was also the question of politics. It was well known among faculty that conservatives don't get advancement or tenure.

Even if I could have lived among so many liberals, it would have been daily torture.

I don't even like to imagine how much worse it has gotten since then.

It has been 30 more years of liberal brainwashing.

Some of these kids are actually nutty enough to want to join ISIS.

Re: Texas A&M Galveston Professor Hits ‘Breaking Point,’ Fails Entire Class
I don't buy it. Before you have a knee jerk reaction and take the side of the teacher; I have a first hand experience at that school.

Texas A&M Galveston is not what it sounds like. It is not anything close to resembling a full sized university. I work literally right next to it (two football fields away) on Pelican Island and have been to two classes there. I am a merchant mariner. It is a very small campus that is focused mainly on training merchant mariners and fast tracking them into employment.

Some of these people are already employed and having their education paid for by their employers. Also, many have signed agreements to join the coast guard or are in coast guard programs. The industry and school is very militaristic in nature. The culture of the industry is sometimes brutal, sexist, homophobic, and gross. You have to have thick skin. It employs a very different kind of person. It is for all these reasons that the teachers are extremely rude and think they can do whatever they want.

In one of the classes I took, the teacher used the wrong answer key to grade papers. So, everyone got a terrible grade on the test. The entire classed protested and tried to convince him what he had done. And they could easily prove it. It was so obvious as to be absurd. Instead of regrading all the tests and admitting his mistake, he repeatedly accused the entire class of trying manipulate him. Each of us had to argue with him for our grade. I probably got a 90 or so on the test in reality but only could convince him to change the grade from a 30 or 40 to around a 70. I was happy because I only needed to pass the class and the final grade wasn't noted. It was pass/fail.

But it would have been bad if I had failed because of him. My company was paying for it and I could've lost my job or been reprimanded if I would've failed. Before this I earned a Bachelors at The University of North Texas. In about 16 years or so that I had gone to full-time school, I have never experienced anything close to that.. The same teacher also asked me if I had any idea what I was doing and concluded that I "had shit for brains". No, I didn't know what I was doing because I had never lowered a life boat into the water he was a terrible teacher. I was just trying to learn you know. WTF? I would not recommend going to school there but if you want to be a merchant mariner; there aren't that many options.
