Repeat cycle. It's called tolerance. Some people are fast caffeine metabolized and some people are dlow. It is all in the dna. You csn test your dna for this and more at 23andme. After you get your dna file suit it to prometheus and you will get a complete health profile. Other things that are genetic include sleep patterns taste preferences and a thousand other things you would have never thought possible. It is well worth the 99 bucks for 23andme and the 5 bucks for prometheus. Deal of the century. |

I understand and hot drink can make you sleepy, even if it has caffeine. I will drink one can of say an energy drink, usually sugar free, feel wired from the caffeine briefly (say, 15 minutes), then totally crash. Same if it has sugar, and same with a cup of coffee. On the other hand, I can drink 1 - 2 beers (but hard liquor will be the same, as will wine), and can not sleep, don't feel sleepy. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68924988 Anyone? I'm a 30 year old male, very healthy except for allergies and mild-moderate asthma, 6 feet tall, 175lbs, eat reasonably healthy, never over-eat, moderate sugar intake (no diabetes, no history of diabetes in family). I do have a family history of depression on my maternal side, including at least one suicide that I know of (grandmother). Both are a stimulant to a degree. Alcohol raises blood pressure and your adrenal glands excrete adrenalin making you have more energy. Alcohol is all carbs/sugar which gives you energy too, and the numbing effect prevents you from feeling normal pains and other things that cause you to slow down and become tired. I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

User ID: 64460874 United States 04/29/2015 10:34 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have anxiety and try to avoid caffeine completely, but when Im really tired and drink some to wake up, it doesnt work. I cant drink coffee because I get panic attacks from it. But I will drink red bull. Ive tried other energy drinks over the years but they taste horrible. Red bull will work for 10-15 min if Im lucky. Usually Ill fall asleep after I drink one anyway :( Im always tired, no energy for anything. The 5 hour energy shots are the only thing that offers some help. It will give me maybe an hour to do stuff. Only if Im up moving though. If I take it at work, where Im at a desk most of the day, it does nothing :/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Proud Mommy |

My husband has ADD and just a soda with caffeine will have him up way too late at night if he drinks one later than 8pm. Coffee can have him going for hours. I have ADD, but think all my fidgeting and rocking back and forth sideways when made to stand still, might be ADHD. I literally have to move something all the time. SO maybe this is my problem.... Im screwed then lol.. forever fatigued lol.. Not even b12 1000mg worked lol ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Proud Mommy |

User ID: 62912967 United States 04/29/2015 12:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm same age as OP Energy Drinks put me to sleep - such as this morning I woke up at 7, had a 20oz Red Bull - was back in bed in an hour. Coffee, good ole coffee, works fine. Sometimes I actually get "sweaty" from too much coffee *ahem starbucks* aka 4Bucks aka we get middle aged people addicted to our drinks that contain TONS OF CAFFIENE. anyhow, Alcohol does NOT KNOCK ME OUT. Maybe it's the six years I spent in AA - but last night (I have today off) last night I was drinking 211 and Rum - and watching the riots on TV that was blah... and I didn't want to sleep... if anything I was stimulated. I didn't want to fall asleep because, IMO, I don't want to lose the "buzz" it took me a few hours to get.. I wish I could be like Julian. |

Quoting: Narcissistic I bought a house of cards T-shirt and a Trailer Park Boy T-shirt and even a lowball tumbler just like his Hahaha, if you watch this video - after the car wrecks - he comes out still holding the drink. Was watching some 1960s tv dramas (Columbo), and was amazed how everytime he went to some home in the middle of a business day, some housewife would always answer the door with a drink in her hand and be shit faced. And everybody smoked. I guess those were the days. |
