"The math is simple - to win a statewide (Alabama) election or take back a legislative majorities, Democrats have to win back white voters. Nationally, the party has been successful by cobbling together lots of smaller constituencies - minorities, women, LGBT - into majorities, but the Alabama Democratic Party has failed to do the same.

And it won't - not ever - until it learns what diversity really means, until it shucks off the superficial quotas, and gets comfortable in its own skin - whatever color that is."
