I know Im all over the place. Its late here, and I have to go to work in 5 hrs (trying to keep myself awake).

Appreciate the good back and forth.

There is a lot more to the state than the aid numbers report. We have been busing in large businesses here because we are a right to work state. We are number 2 in auto manufacturing, and we are getting more businesses by the year from the North (Remington, and other gun companies). Most of these jobs are for the uneducated workers here. We still don't have enough, but it is much better than before.

I will say that we are getting these businesses solely due to liberal policies affecting the other states. Those businesses can't keep up with union costs and state taxes, so they move down here (thankfully instead of out of country). Our low property taxes and corporate taxes help these businesses a lot (although we do have a high state sales tax).

We also have a very high educated work force as well. We are top 5 in sports medicine, very high in regular medicine, as well as STEM jobs (thanks to NASA and universities, and Alabama Power). What we are really hurting in is with the middle class and privately owned businesses. The federal regulations have decimated private business, and they are closing up fast. My sister owns a restaurant, and she can barely break even due to taxes. Every year there are more taxes on small businesses from the federal government, and there is hardly any increase in revenue. If anyone of those new (or old) taxes is unpaid, there is a $200,000 fine that would bankrupt most people. This is why under Obama more small businesses are failing than starting up (net loss) for the first time since Carter I believe (Maybe Reagan's early years).

The reason why this movement is surging is because corporations are flooding to the state and helping out despite all the government overreach destroying small businesses. People are seeing the increase in local communities due to the large corporations, and then they see the communities that take in federal aid (high crime, no economy). It's a night and day difference between the free market and federal regulations.

All of that said, there is a huge problem that goes completely unseen by people who do not live here. It is essentially the black vs. white problem and mentality. Most of the inner cities are 70%+ african american and vote completely for democrats. They do not like white people or white businesses.

Take Birmingham City Council for example. They refused offers from Red Diamond and Bass Pro Shops to set up shop in Birmingham City Limits citing racism. Those businesses went to Leeds and Moody (redneck towns 20 years ago). Now those two 'redneck' towns are booming. They have outlet malls, hotels, businesses, manufacturing and lots of jobs. Birmingham is continually bankrupt and raising sewer bills yet again (because they lost a lot of money in wall street through poorly investing the sewer funds). They have a long history of corrupt black politicians (some of which are still in jail), yet they keep voting in black democrats.

Thus, the white, republican areas are doing well and the inner city black democratic areas are struggling. So....those inner city areas ask for federal money, and they receive lots of federal money. They have new schools built in areas that are 95% black, but the graduation rate remains very low. They take lots of federal money and give nothing back. This is the real reason for those numbers.

It's not necessarily a black issue, but more of a black entitlement and black corruption issue within those cities. If they just learned to take local white peoples' money then they wouldn't have to take federal money. Here's an article that documents a rural black town that would rather drive 100+ miles round trip than to shop at local white stores. This is the attitude that is destroying the state (as well as the black communities).
