Tell him to stick it...if it looks good and no damage tell him to shove it.

For a thousand bucks ???? I was charged almost 2000.00 for damage to a rug...They tried to take me to court...I didn't go....but that shit stayed on my credit report forever...constant calls from collection agencies. I would not want ya to go through that...I would just do it really cheap.
