I couldn't watch more than a few minutes of this..but seeing it made me realize how terrifying it must have been for parents to see their adult children, acting in such a manner..in these cults.

Going to the lengths of literally kidnapping people from these groups and force reprogramming them, is obviously not legal and Ted Patrick did eventually serve jail time.

Some of those deprogrammed said they have as much trauma from the deprogramming, as they did from the cult.

You can see it their eyes when they talk about their kidnappings.

Seems to be a common theme among virtually every religion, political structure etc.

Christain/Muslim heaven/hell. Believe or burn as we follow the chosen one.
Buddhism caste system. We were born priests therefore superiour.
Sects that outright state they are the chosen ones - typically blood or some such.
Etc

Politics is following suit with causing that extreme divide.

There are many jewish messiah claimants. I actually knew one at this rehab who recently got kicked out for relapsing. He wanted to bomb the temple mosque, said he was king of israel, and also the messiah. He was not noticeably insane except for in that way.

It was something that struck me in the Mormon Manson documentary. These men have 'visions' and then claim to 'the messiah' or the chosen one.

His brother, the one he had killed, is still viewed in that manner in the group.

It just all seems so silly now. All of it. Devious too. The dissonance is gone though. I feel like I see it clearer now that I'm on the outside. At least for now.
