Electric cars are bullshit...try going up mountain with one and then not have it start....and you have 4 full bags of pine mushrooms and just want to go home. What do you do? Kick it until it starts...idiotic technology. Give us cars that use little fuel and that only need 5 tools to fix everything ourselves with.

I'm really sorry to hear what's happening, but also extremely happy. It sounds like he's making some real positive steps forward from the initial injury - and with the tlc you're providing hopefully he can make a full recovery. He's lucky he comes from such an attentive home

That $10k surgery just disgusts me...if you know any other vets ask/shop around. I was lucky enough to find a good vet years ago that very much puts the animals first over profit. Where other places wanted $1000 plus, they only charged a few hundred. Their demeanour towards the animals is truly caring to - so much so that the dogs still perk up and get excited when I say "vet time".

If there's one area where costs should be minimal, it's health care for all creatures - humans included lol.

It's sort of unnerving to think that in many ways the behavior of humans is not easy to differentiate from skinner box pigeons.

Once one becomes engaged within a community, it's difficult to disengage. But more or less I think that the involvement is rewarding.

It's not so simple as being able to leave if it has a negative effect on your life. Most of the time the effect is mixed.

But I DO genuinely wonder....in a sense, have we begun to mix our consciousness with the web, has the very skin of that consciousness become grafted in a way that the two are no longer separable?

That question actually applies to all people, as we seem to be inexorably unable to separate ourselves from 'the net' as it were...but on GLP, one thing that bothers me is the deliberate conditioning.

The karma system seems basically hardwired to give you social strokes and social shocks ... not to mention we do our own 'self reporting' here, making the notion of covert monitoring completely unnecessary...I may feel haughty for not using facebook, but here I am on GLP reporting on my actions and thoughts to exactly the same extent if not greater....

Now provided nobody wishes to use me it may not matter....but on the off, even minuscule chance that information was of value to anybody....well, who really knows?
