Quoting: Lance Roseman From BC QUOTE It was just days ago that we reported that the NHTSA was opening an inquiry into the use of Tesla's "Smart Summon" feature. Then, just hours ago we followed up by reporting that a petition had been filed with the NHTSA claiming that Tesla was using over the air software updates to cover up dangerous battery issues. Today, we offer a stark reminder that just because the NHTSA has started to perk up its ears, doesn't mean that Teslas haven't stopped going up in flames all over the world. The most recent example comes from Austria, where after a Tesla was involved in an accident and caught fire, firefighters had to use a special container to transport the remains of the vehicle and the battery. Elon Musk and the Cult of the Celebrity Savior Quoting: Seer777 Musk’s concrete plan remains unclear, though he added that he would organize a weekend in Flint to “add filters to those houses with issues.” The proposal rapidly rang up likes, and replies oozing with admiration, including one Twitter fan who expressed concern that Musk was letting his humanitarian impulses interfere with the work of creating very expensive electric cars. “You’re the most influential person on earth right now and you’re already working on some of the most challenging problems facing mankind. If you don’t stay focused, it will take you longer to achieve,” the fan remonstrated. Elon Musk’s adoring fans — who flock to his Tweets in the hundreds, laud his successes, and even write erotica about him — typify a deeply American idolization of the wealthy. His direct engagement of fans and foes alike gives him an outsize footprint online, even for a much-lauded Silicon Valley billionaire, and fans have responded in kind. It sounds like he's making some real positive steps forward from the initial injury - and with the tlc you're providing hopefully he can make a full recovery. He's lucky he comes from such an attentive home That $10k surgery just disgusts me...if you know any other vets ask/shop around. I was lucky enough to find a good vet years ago that very much puts the animals first over profit. Where other places wanted $1000 plus, they only charged a few hundred. Their demeanour towards the animals is truly caring to - so much so that the dogs still perk up and get excited when I say "vet time". If there's one area where costs should be minimal, it's health care for all creatures - humans included lol. |

I recall hearing it was something like 40,000x they would press they lever. I really have no idea what the number was, but it was a lot. Far more than any other drug. Quoting: Seer777 There is no question in my mind that it is addicting. It is coming to understand why it is addicting... I think itis the pace. It's the feeling that you are going to miss something if you leave. And the very real fact that you do, when you do. Telling people to 'leave GLP' because it is bad for them is like telling a crackhead, 'crack kills'. Usually, they don't GAF. It's sort of unnerving to think that in many ways the behavior of humans is not easy to differentiate from skinner box pigeons. Once one becomes engaged within a community, it's difficult to disengage. But more or less I think that the involvement is rewarding. It's not so simple as being able to leave if it has a negative effect on your life. Most of the time the effect is mixed. But I DO genuinely wonder....in a sense, have we begun to mix our consciousness with the web, has the very skin of that consciousness become grafted in a way that the two are no longer separable? That question actually applies to all people, as we seem to be inexorably unable to separate ourselves from 'the net' as it were...but on GLP, one thing that bothers me is the deliberate conditioning. The karma system seems basically hardwired to give you social strokes and social shocks ... not to mention we do our own 'self reporting' here, making the notion of covert monitoring completely unnecessary...I may feel haughty for not using facebook, but here I am on GLP reporting on my actions and thoughts to exactly the same extent if not greater.... Now provided nobody wishes to use me it may not matter....but on the off, even minuscule chance that information was of value to anybody....well, who really knows? I find it comforting. Behavior is rather easy to predict. It is the unpredictable ones, I find alarming. In regard to the Karma system on GLP, I went through different levels of understanding during my time here. First was, even people attempting to give good karma can accidentally give bad karma. My first 'bad karma' came from Apollo who messaged me and told me it was mistake and would 'make it up to me later'. Second was, that people will utilize anonymity to say the most potentially Ego damaging thing one can imagine, up that point. Third. Timing was everything and karma should be ignored for the most part. I check it once per month when I am 'in the mood' to take the good with the bad... Fourth. People who give karma to get karma, are cheating. In that, they sign their name such that the recipient knows from where it came. Even with the best of intentions, this is true. Fifth. The temptation to give bad karma in a moment of anger, reflects as a personal failure and can be seen by the mods. Whether signed or not. Sixth. Anyone who collects karma by tattling on others constantly, is easy to see. Seventh. You can utilize positive karma points to help others with pins, or free membership. That's how I see it.
