MGM Resorts International agreed to pay as much as $800 million to settle most claims arising from the October 2017 mass shooting at one of its properties on the Las Vegas Strip.

The company expects the settlement to range from $735 million to $800 million, depending on the number of plaintiffs who participate. The entire process is expected to be completed by late 2020, MGM said Thursday.

“Our goal has always been to resolve these matters so our community and the victims and their families can move forward in the healing process,” Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jim Murren said in a statement.

That was such an awful day. Truly gutting.

Remember the rumors of the lady who ran through the crowd screaming they were all about to die some minutes before?

Still creeps me out.

Never did find out if that really happened or was just a rumor..

I remember that. Yeah clearly that woman knew about the shooting. From what I remember they took her in for questioning. She had prior knowledge. Connections to whatever was going on in that hotel room.

She said: “It seemed she was telling us to either warn us, or she was part of it and she was telling us because she knew we were going to die. It was so scary. “It felt like she had knowledge of what was about to happen.”

So they found her? Is that verified or is that rumor?

I guess that would make more sense than her having a psychic moment like in The Eye.

I just found this. Apparently the witness changed her story about the woman. I remember the woman being questioned. But now I'm reading this. The fact check says the witness changed her story to the woman only threatening a few people she had been in an altercation with. Which is what she was kicked out for. Not threatening the concert as a whole. 1dunno1

Speaking to us on 3 October 2017, Hendricks saw events differently and no longer believed the woman’s threats and behavior were related to the shooting. At first she said “You’re going to die,” then she said “They’re surrounding us, we’re all going to die…” She kept saying that her boyfriend couldn’t breathe – “He can’t breathe, I need to get to the front” – and whenever you looked at the boyfriend, he was back there drinking his beer. So it’s hard to think there was actually a problem going on.

Maybe she was saying 'He's going to die' talking about her companion and saying 'they're surrounding us' describing the crowd..to him.'

Being a small person, under 5'4", the first time I went to a large concert, which was Bush in 1995, I suddenly felt like I couldn't get any air. We were all packed together, and because I'm short, I was breathing everyone's breath.

I stood on my tip-toes and everywhere I looked, was people.

I freaked for a minute until my cousin grabbed me and told me to get a hold of myself.

Which I did..

Never happened again, and enjoyed many concerts after, but I recall that feeling of being trapped in all those people, and not being able to breathe.

Needing to 'get to the front' to get pulled out of the crowd or seen by security/parametric that are often in attendance up front.

Makes more sense. Thanks

My first concert I was 13. I got pushed into the mosh pit and thankfully this huge guy was right there to pull me immediately back out before anything bad could happen. Like an angel. That dude saved my life. A lot of people left in ambulance. All the other concerts I was in the front row. There was one I ended up punching guy in face who was standing behind me. It was an accident but like, maybe if he wasn't standing so close to me it wouldn't have happened! Lol

I was 18. It was called Bumpershoot IIRC. There were a ton of bands.

Bush was the final act.

I was offered a ticket to go see one of Nirvana's last concerts, before he died.

For some reason I can't recall, I turned it down. Probably because I like going to bed early. :P

I was also offered a ticket to see Tom Petty in college, I turned down. I heard was amazing. Like mind shattering.

Still regret that.

My dad saw KISS, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Tom Petty, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, lots of others. My mom went to lots of concerts too. She loved Peter Frampton. Lol Funny thing, she and my dad were both at the Fleetwood concert which was before they even knew each other. That wasn't the first time they were at the same venue either. Many times before they officially met and started dating. So that's kinda cool, like the universe wanted them together.

Great list. Love that story. It was fate. :)

Steve Perry sang like an angel..what a voice. All of them. I saw a thread earlier condemning acting as a 'worthless profession' when we esteem our entertainers, for very good reason.

How many among 100,000 could hit these notes?

It's like a beautiful bird and everyone stops to look and listen..

I understand why people think and feel that way about the acting profession and entertainment business in general. About "Hollywood". A lot of evil goes on behind doors. But not every door in the business. Our existence without indulging our creative senses would be a heavy burden. Also we are all created with gifts, we all have talent. We were fashioned with potential in mind as creators. We have to entertain ourselves somehow. It's the human conditioning. How a people learn to thrive and know themselves.

How bad it gets, you can't imagine
The burning wax, the breath of reptiles
God is not mocked, he owns our business
Karma could take us at any moment
Cover him up, I think we're finished
You know it's never been so exotic
But I don't know, my dreams are visions
We could still end up with the great big fishes.

I think the actors/actresses are just doing what they are talented at. Entertaining, while telling a story, as a role. Humans are master storytellers and utilize the tools we can conceive, to further elaborate and tell those stories.

Some are immensely talented. They stand out, and we recognized that both individually and collectively.

It's funny because it's true..

People want to be remembered..and are, through the talents they leave in the wake behind them.

Do you take collagen? Bone broth? These aren't vegetarian products so you probably wouldn't touch them. There is a plant-based collagen supplement available. I'm thinking about trying that but so far I am noticing results with the protein collagen. I get it in a protein powder and research shows it heals stomach lining.
