inception involved dreaming at different levels, timing and skill to complete an objective, but mostly is was about control!

Inception didn’t sell their idea to me very well. Maybe it was just overhyped, but the scenes in the movie didn’t resemble any dreams I’ve ever had.

cinematically portraying dreams is difficult to juxtapose against reality. the line between the two is emotionally difficult to separate cleanly. lol

I’m not sure. Nobody who has slept next to me has complained about that though. I “fall” into my bed sometimes. That’s pretty disorientating

It's like moment...... just before paralysis that takes over dream state, and you step off a curb, and it jerks you awake.

That's 'the kick'.

It sucks.

And can become torture in sleep disorder.

It sounds a lot like falling into your bed

It's more like a sudden jerk.. within a dream state that exists before the paralyzer kicks in.

It jerks you awake, due to sudden 'dream movement' where normally, your reflex would kick in to catch you.

Hence, The Kick.


Probably why some have night terrors and act out their dreams.

Yep. Funny how things work out.

We have two hours of services starting at 7 tonight. And tomorrow starting at 9am, we have services until 6 fucking pm. My attention span barely lasts an hour. I have no idea how I’m going to get through it.

I hear ya.

I spent many a bored hour, subject to Sunday sermon, as a child..


In the 4th of 5th grade, a school wide 'contest' was issued. To learn the Beatitudes and be able to recite them from memory.

I set to the task that evening, encouraged by my mother, and showed up the next morning gleaming in triumph. They told me, I was to celebrate my victory by standing in front of entire staff and student body and recite them, word for word in the auditorium.

I agreed, waiting for my 'prize' that would assuredly come from one so eager to please, God.


When I got up there, I recited them, as I recalled, perfectly..and when I was done..I awaited my prize.


One of the teachers that wasn't my own, approached my meekly and handed me a paper bookmark that listed the books of the Bible..

I stood there, in front of everyone, in my victory, holding a paper bookmark I knew was worthless...but had to hold face due the attention.

It all made sudden sense.

That’s pretty...brutal, now that I’m thinking about it.
I know schools can be pretty thrifty, but a paper bookmark?

I always notice..

They weren't prepared..

Every student after me, received a laminated bookmark that was far more fancy.

A bookmark? After all that work? They could at least have given you a goddamned book.

Not the point really. Point is expectation, over reality(on my part) and preparedness due expectation(on their part).

I didn't need a book.

It was a valid lesson, that sticks with me to this day.
