But the truth is that ALL human beings are the problem. Everyone, all humans, are exactly one major step from committing atrocities like this.

All it takes is a strong push or a strong belief...

Humanity will never change. This is what we are as a species. This is what we will always be.

The only way to change it is to genetically modify that side out of us or wipe out humanity and give another species a chance.

Zechariah 11:17 clearly identifies the darkened (or covered) eye as representing the coming AntiChrist (THE BEAST). And the open eye relates back to Genesis 3:5 when the serpent (who is Satan according to Revelation 20:2) told Eve that her eyes (singular, ayin in Hebrew, which means “eye”) shall be opened.
