Yeah, you just see their happiness when he gives them a handshake. It must one of the best feelings precisely because hes so harsh. One of the contestants said he could leave happy just for that.

I think that is one of the greatest aspects of the show, especially for empathic people, is the range of emotional highs and lows that the bakers face and conquer. The viewer wants everyone to do well, because they are all trying so hard. You want them to succeed, such that any successes/failure, you feel personally. I even noticed Paul calming down a crying final contestant, last night. I think that was the first time I've seen that in any episode. Was nice to see. I remember exactly who you are talking about. That's kind of the weird part about that show, you can kill it in almost every episode, but that won't win you the show. All it takes is really one bad day. I was shocked at who won. It was kind of disappointing to me honestly, but I thought it was an excellent season Over all the seasons, I couldn't help but notice the females are totally solid and consistent.. and then one week, it all falls apart. Over-stressed, crying, nearly giving up..I can't help but wonder if it is the very real fallout of menses. Hormones.
