I can handle most of it. It has just taken a ton of discipline to get use to.


I remember when I got my hostess job at IHOP when I was 19, and a friend from high school I knew came in. I knew he had gone into the Marines and was excited to see him and asked him what it was like..

He looked me straight in the face and said, You know what it is like to be kicked in the face repeatedly?


He had a crush on me in high school and was one of the most gentle people I had known. I dated his younger brother briefly..


I remember the exchange like it was yesterday.
