Because it can be both and one doesn't have to have anything do with the other.
Personally I found it comforting to stumble on that article. I read about Ke$ha but didn't know about the others.
It is not sleep paralysis or anything like that.

Pretty people are often the most lonely folks in the world. Oftentimes the most abused. Think of the word posession. Damn, now I have sweet dreams running through my backup systems.
