It was something that struck me in the Mormon Manson documentary. These men have 'visions' and then claim to be 'the messiah' or the chosen one.
His brother, the one he had killed, is still viewed in that manner in the group.
It just all seems so silly now. All of it. Devious too. The dissonance is gone though. I feel like I see it clearer now that I'm on the outside. At least for now.
Quoting: Seer777 Why are some people's visions considered valid and true, while anyone else that claims that 'God talks to them in words' are considered raving lunatics with advanced schizophrenia? What is the difference between the obviously insane, and Joseph Smith? Is there one? [ link to youtu.be (secure)] Quoting: Seer777 What does that link prove..about people in general, or about our current reality? It..shocked me straight. Looking at all those names, next Jesus. I've considered it in many different forms over the years, but never quite like that. I want to hold on to how this feels. If I can. It is so simple to fall back under the spell.
