Jesus's last words
Jesus's last words
To All,It was just before three o’clock when Jesus, with a loud voice, cried out, “It is finished! Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” And when he had thus spoken, he bowed his head and gave up the life struggle. When the Roman centurion saw how Jesus died, he smote his breast and said: “This was indeed a righteous man; truly he must have been a Son of God.” And from that hour he began to believe in Jesus. the white rose

We would love to hear what you have to say hanging from a cross, your hands and feet pierced, after you'd been flogged for an hour or so!

I'm pretty sure his last words were "Ouch!"
Gen. John B Gordon and Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest were the finest citizen-soldiers birthed in America.

That was an intentional abrogation of the truth by the Maserati at the council of Nicea when they changed the words in the original Paleo Hebrew text!

Time to learn:

Jesus was repeating Psalm 22. All the Jews that knew the bible would have known that entire verse just by hearing Jesus say those few words.

Psalm 22:6-8
But I am a worm and not a man,
scorned by everyone, despised by the people.
7 All who see me mock me;
they hurl insults, shaking their heads.
8 “He trusts in the Lord,” they say,
“let the Lord rescue him.
Let him deliver him,
since he delights in him.”

Nope.

All psalm 22 basically foreshadows Jesus. He was weak on the cross and couldn't repeat the whole verse so he started it and anyone who knew the book of psalms would have known the entire verse.

Even by saying those words that confuse many He was proclaiming His divinity.

He said that because He had become sin and in that moment was separated from the Father.

Many people have made the case that "why has thou forsaken me" is a mistranslation.

For example, if the words were Hebrew, then the literal translation (from the Peshitta) is "My strength, my strength, to the appointed time release me."

Indeed, it is a major clue here that the Aramaic-speaking people who were watching and listening could not understand his words - they literally asked outloud if he was calling to Elijah. And that makes sense when one compares the Hebrew & Aramaic.

He said that out of humbleness and humility in front of God. He thought he failed the mission. He didnt say it out of selfishness.
