A Christian's eternal future is protected, no doubt about it.
But I don't think our physical well being will be protected in the last days.

Revelation is full of instances where the faithful are persecuted and killed.

And look what happens to Jesus's own disciples and early evangelists: They were tortured and killed, almost to the man.
