From reading that article, the history of it is insanely cruel and it's a symbol of evil as far as i'm concerned.

The fleur the lis actually represents the Trinity. It's kind of like a mini-drawing of Jesus, along with the Father and the Holy Ghost.

It was a royal symbol in the Middle Ages because medieval France was a Catholic theocracy.

But there were more black slave owners in New Orleans than white ones - doesn't that cancel itself out?

Fitzmorris said the symbol was associated with the French revolution, but in reality, the French revolution caused the symbol to become banned in all of France. French revolutionists knew that the symbol represented Jesus and the Trinity and so they banned it because they hated religion.

So you are advocating a push to ban it?? Every symbol, flag, etc.. has, at one time, been associated to something bad or evil in the eyes of individual groups. So what? Do we just ban all symbols and burn all flags?

These symbols and flags are part of our history and should be treated as such. Leave them on display so people remember the past and learn from the mistakes they represent. If you try to erase the past, you will be destine to repeat the same mistakes.

None of these flags need 'banned' (as in a legal move). Not the Confederate flag or the fleur di lis or any other flag. Some flags are not popular, but honestly, you don't tend to see those much anyway.

People have the right to dislike certain flags for whatever reason (even if it is a stupid reason, but opinions based on NOTHING should not be taken seriously by grown ups). But, calling to make them illegal goes against freedom of speech.
