Anonymous Coward User ID: 56468536 United States 07/26/2015 08:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Me and the other girls would sit outside a liquor store with $10 and ask people going in if they'd buy us a 6-pack or some Boone's Farm apple wine. Nine times out of 10 they would. Once a group of us were driving and had beer in our hands; a cop pulled us over, asked where we were going (to a beach party but we said home), he just laughed and said if he called our moms if they would be ok with what we were doing, we all said yes. He confiscated the alcohol and let us go on our way. I'm sure he took the beer home. It was a simpler world, people weren't scared all the time. A time of innocence. I feel bad that the younger people have never experienced it. |

It had no effect on the kids whether they took drugs -but was continued to get arrests of middle class attic/basement growers. Even the grandmas were turned in -and little junior got a pat on the head. |

What was it like before it became illegal to take care of yourself? What was it like before corporations forced us to pay to be poisoned by fake doctors? Quoting: thedude2888 I am sure you will get comments from all different age groups! Guess my age..... When I was in high school, it was unusual for students to smoke cigarettes! I never even heard of "drugs" then. We did smoke cigarettes in our 20's. It was very common, but again...I was not familiar with drugs. I do not know anyone in my high school who drank alcohol while underage. When I was 19-20, we used to drive to West Virginia for 3.2 beer and thought it was cool. No real alcohol until we were 21. Couples got married before the gal got pregnant if you had any "decency." It was shameful for your entire family if you did get pregnant before marriage. Also, divorce was shameful. Very few couples got a divorce. I'm not saying everyone was happy. You just made the best of it. We never had to worry about being abducted. Kids were outside all day and were told to be in the house when the street lights came on. This was when I was younger than 5th grade and older. Last Edited by nutmeg on 07/26/2015 08:40 PM |

Most people have not been able to get themselves into the mindset of understanding propaganda to it's full extent and it is rife. Criminals are demonised by police media Blacks are demonised by their own actions Whites are demonised by the mainstream media Muslims are demonised by everyone because of their own actions It all serves an agenda The unleashing of the internet beast has turned to propaganda because fear and shock get more clicks. People are becoming aware of it, slowly. Hopefully the next generation will be more aware than most of us are. |

Quoting: thedude2888 When I was in high school, it was unusual for students to smoke cigarettes! I never even heard of "drugs" then. When I was in elementary school (late 1970s-'81) kids at the junior high near my house would smoke on the front lawns of neighboring houses while waiting for school to start, and during lunch. By the time I made it to junior high they had cracked down on that nonsense -- no more smoking at all anywhere near the campus. The "good old days" of freedom -- lol ... glad those days are GONE. It's so much better now. |

I was having a glass of wine and she totally freaked out, said I was an addict. I had a long talk with her about the range of differences between a beer versus shooting heroin but she was scared of me for a few weeks I think. I never had a drinking or drug problem. Now she drinks way more than I ever did. Can't wait till her kids hit the DARE program. |

When I was a kid, and I grew up in a poor inner city neighborhood - integrated I may add - the lowest form of life was a junkie. We didn't hate them or persecute them, we just felt sorry for them. I don't think the cops rousted them unless they were getting violent, which they usually weren't. Vietnam is actually what brought in a lot of the drugs, that and the whole bullshit "college" experience. The combination of the two exposed a whole generation to drugs they would never have encountered otherwise. Then of course, once they did encounter them, making MJ and the rest demonized only added to the allure and create criminal behavior where before there was only pathos. |

Concerts were amazing because everyone lit up a joint as soon as the music started, and passed them. The entire concert, you just took a hit and passed a joint. You didn't have to worry about where it came from or if it was laced with scary shit, it was all just weed. I don't even remember any security guards, no cops, possibly some bouncers but they just smiled at you as you took a hit and passed the joint. They were only worried about violence, which never happened. Maybe a drunken fistfight, that would be the worst. Quoting: thedude2888 There were fewer cops on the street and A LOT more crime. The "good ol' days" weren't that good ... I think the War On Drugs has made a HUGE impact on are quality of life in this country. That is absolutely NOT true. I lived through the 50s, 60s, 70s, and remember them. I grew up in an inner city neighborhood in a large city. Crime was almost non-existent. There were always some hoods, you knew who they were and where they were and you avoided them. Other than that...we LEFT OUR FRONT DOOR UNLOCKED until the Boston Strangler killings started, I think that was '64. EVERYBODY left their front door unlocked! I regularly walked back and forth through PROJECTS on my way to and from school and to visit friends (who LIVED in the projects) and nobody ever bothered any of us. I think of all the kids I knew in all the grades, Catholic and public school, I only heard of one kid who was ever attacked. It was THAT rare. But of course, those kind of crimes were hated and despised and punishment was swift, probably from the family. We're all pussies now. As for the cops, there may have been fewer but they were better men who knew how to handle people. Many of them also WALKED THE BEAT (instead of being in patrol cars) so they actually KNEW the neighborhood and the inhabitants. They could PREVENT crime, and they actually would try to talk to and help people. Much better men. The War on Drugs has been an epic DISASTER in many ways, but of course, the whole purpose of it was to get as many young people on drugs as possible and make as much money for corrupt elites. That worked. |

And you could buy what ever the fuck you wanted over the counter(opium, morphine, cocaine, heroin, thc, etc...) The best part about this time period though is that all of the drugs were 100% pure unlike most of the stuff on the black market today that is cut with all kind of bad shit...
