Breaking: 2 cranes lifting part of bridge collapse in the Netherlands. 20+ injured.

This happened in a normal neighbourhood. The cranes and the part of the bridge have collapsed onto houses. Not much more info at this moment.

Crazy... maybe we should go back to build on site instead of prefab. I'm sure that bridge could have been built the old fashioned way. Hope people are ok.

Yeah, lifting a heavy bridge with 2 mobile cranes on a floating (!) pontoon, what could possibly go wrong....

You can see pretty clearly what happened.

Crane on the farthest barge was way too close to the front corner. As it took the weight, the barge tilted down and to that side. The rest is just physics and math.

both barges should have been secured to land, on the opposite corner.

That's pretty spectacular. I was thinking the neighborhood should have probably been evacuated before attempting that.

I wouldn't be surprised if these cranes will still be there in september for the major event. They are made from iron and make for perfect conductors of ELECTRICITY.
