Anonymous Coward User ID: 70026537 Bosnia and Herzegovina 08/12/2015 09:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Bank of America issued a statement July 28, halting Atlantic International Bank wire transfers, U.S. dollar bank drafts, and foreign currency transfers to and from Belize. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4334249 According to the statement, Bank of America is exploring options for the flow of incoming and outgoing wires and hopes to find a solution to the issue. The issue is called de-risking and is in compliance with the regulations currently imposed on Caribbean and Central American regions by large U.S. and European banks. The move caught U.S. expats in Belize by surprise and threatened to derail several real estate closings that were awaiting wire transfers. Several foreigners said they planned to change banks but others said they believed that all U.S. banks would soon follow suit. “It’s another example of the U.S. government and banking system restricting the flow of people’s hard-earned money,” said Wilbur Simmons, a real estate investor. On the surface, it would seem like the safer thing to do. I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. Slake Blake |

People were mentioning bitcoin; is it possible to use direct deposit for a govt check into it like a bank account and take out to spend and pay bills with? People talk about cash disappearing, but I don't see that happening anytime soon at all, and I don't think the dollar will lose all value overnight either, simply because it is a currency used worldwide..but it will happen. |

On a boat tour, the New River, we passed John McAfee's scientific research compound. It was raided and shut down for by the 'authorities' for some reason. Our tour guide said McAfee was investigating the anti-cancer properties of native plants and fruit in abundance in the area. The SourSop, specifically, has been in the cross hairs of the cancer industry complex for sometime. Our tour guide said he gave his ill dad tea from the plant. He was in full remission for 6 years. The authorities later 'muddied the waters' with a trumped up murder charge of one of McAfee's neighbors on the coast. John is quite a character. Not sure what is true. Belize folks regard him as a legend. :) Last Edited by TriggerFish on 08/12/2015 11:11 AM Caught in the rift between Deja Vu and Amnesia.
