cops become cops because they want to help people. if they wanted to kill people they'd become thugs instead. lots more opportunity, no body or dashcam to worry about, no witnesses, no review boards, no hassles.

I've had my life saved by cops. I've watched them save other lives, even criminal lives, even after being shot at, spat at, kicked at, slashed at. You have no idea what they go through in order to continue saving lives. It's a thankless, unforgiving job, with lousy hours, lousy pay, lousy conditions (ever had to be out in the snow and slush laying on your back under a car to help fix a mech problem for a young mother with three kids in the back stranded in the snow? Ever had to jump in a river to save a baby trapped in an upside down car? Ever had to stand exposed by the side of the freeway helping change a tire or directing traffic around a broken down motor home in a hot construction zone that's down to one lane? The list goes on. And that's before you factor in people wanting to kill you with guns and knives and snow shovels...)

people get killed by cops because they were going to kill someone else. instead of focusing on the number of people killed by cops, focus on the number of lives saved by getting those would-be killers off the street.

Not sure in what world you live in, but my dad was a cop. I used to sit and listen to his conversations with other cops. He and most of them were not into being a cop for honorable reasons, they were perhaps some of the most sadistic, egotistical, power trippers I have ever met.
