Banksy’s New Apocalyptic Theme Park "Dismaland"

Street artist Banksy is responsible for a new apocalyptic theme park 'Dismaland'-- 'a dystopian riff' on Disneyland in Weston-super-Mare, England.

Banksy contributed ten new works — along with 58 other artists.

Exhibits include:

--An abandoned Cinderella Castle has been constructed at the heart of the fairgrounds, while a glitchy Little Mermaid sits on a rock in the middle of a putrid green pool.

--One sculpture of a woman on a bench being overtaken by a flock of pigeons looks like a lost scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.

--On a nearby merry-go-round a butcher wielding a machete sits on boxes labeled “lasagne” as a plastic horse hangs close by like it would in a meat locker.

In my opinion, this is dark material indeed, but what I love about it is putting it out there for all to see, instead of covering it all up in media, glitz, and shiny plastic. These things indeed are reality, and I believe even though disturbing, it is intended to wake people up, even more.
