Costa Del Sol holiday alert: Tourists evacuated after police find car packed with grenades

Shocked tourists were asked to evacuate their holiday homes after police discovered a car parked under their flats was packed with war material including mortars and grenades. Officers were called to the apartment block in the Costa del Sol resort of Riviera del Sol near Fuengirola after a fire extinguisher was emptied over the vehicle.

Bomb-disposal experts were alerted and two hospitals put on standby after they discovered weapons hidden inside the BMW 4x4. The cache found in the boot included mortars, grenades and a Kalashnikov.
