I get the feeling that if you were closer, we could be sitting on my back porch enjoying a cold one and swapping stories of the good old days. But its about 100 degrees on the porch right now and I don't feel like sitting out there.
My flock of hens is dwindling and I thought about getting some little chicks earlier this year to add to it. But then I thought about heat lamps and having to babysit them for weeks and decided not to. You can pick them at 2-3 days old for a couple bucks each.
Maybe better to spend $10-$12 at 3-4 months old and let somebody else do the nannying.

Exactly what I had thought, about 12 bucks but this bird was a full hen, so she's obviously something he values, and I ain't the type to get upset because his good life spills over, family and friends and chickens are always welcome, hehe
