That seems fair enough. My hens sometimes seek out odd places to lay. An inviting box or milk crate often seems preferable to laying in the same old nest box back in the coop.

If your neighbor has a fruit tree with fruit-laden branches hanging on your side of the fence, you are within the law to pick such fruit that has invaded your space. If the neighbor doesn't want to share his tree's bounty, he can prune his tree so it no longer inconveniences you.

Or, he could contain his chickens so they don't plunder your romas. If you walk out and find three eggs in a milk crate next to your shed, enjoy them. Just remember if of questionable origin or age, put them in a bowl and cover with water. If they sink, they are good. If they float, throw them onto the compost pile.
