Close the gate and ALSO

ask the neighbor to clip the chickens wings

it doesn't hurt them, and it will help to keep them behind the gate

and hopefully save your tomatoes

otherwise, you might have to bring the tomatoes in!

if the neighbor lives alone, volunteer to help clip the wings, it's easier with two
