I believe Leonardo Da Vinci travelled to the same place I went. His other paintings are just so right on too. There is a certain quality that his paintings capture. A heavenly, divine quality that there are no words to describe. Bravo Leonardo! |

It seems as though Da Vinci was trying to convey Jesus's femininity to the viewer of the painting. Am I the only one who felt/noticed this? Hand gesture reminds me off, as well as the breasts: IMAGE ( [link to upload.wikimedia.org (secure)] ) Seems like Da Vinci was trying to portray duality in Jesus, like Baphomet. Both male and female aspects at once. Last Edited by Trismegistus on 09/18/2015 09:31 PM |

Quoting: Trismegistus Hand gesture reminds me off, as well as the breasts: IMAGE ( [link to upload.wikimedia.org (secure)] ) Seems like Da Vinci was trying to portray duality in Jesus, like Baphomet. Both male and female aspects at once. \ In 2005, the painting was acquired by a consortium of art dealers that included Robert Simon, a specialist in Old Masters. It was heavily overpainted so that it looked like a copy, and was described as “a wreck, dark and gloomy”.[1] It was then restored and authenticated as a painting by Leonardo. It was exhibited by London's National Gallery during the Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan from 9 November 2011 to 5 February 2012.[2][3][4] In 2013 the painting was sold to Russian collector Dmitry Rybolovlev for $127.5 million.[5][6] [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60293138 It's said that Peter, the 1st pope had an ulnar nerve lesion. [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] Those who followed him used the same gesture that he did which became the "hand of benediction" Subsequent art would show religious figures using the hand of benediction. Da Vinci was born nearly 1500 years after Christ. Jesus face is a little more like Jack Black, than this face, only lighter hair, blue eyes. A little more narrow than Black's. And, he stood several inches taller. |
