A relative with a Verizon landline was able to call out. Quoting: beeches A friend who worked for Comcast praised Verizon, saying their landline service has a battery backup. not like Comcast. We keep a corded phone in the house. Most homes have cordless and forget they need batteries charged. Corded phones or land lines are only good until the battery at the local neighborhood hut die which is around 8 hours. The central office at the teleco also needs a generator or else all lines and fiber go down. Generator's need gasoline or diesel. |

I used mine the entire time our power was out (6 1/2 days) but power could have been restored where it was needed for the landline. I realize in a major outage like in OPs it wouldn't do me much good, but in our storms I can at least call to let loved ones know I'm ok:) Oldmotherhubbardglp (at) live.com ~mistakes are proof that you are trying~ ~be kind to unkind people, for they are the ones that need it the most~ |

I think I could probably sleep for the first 24 hours ... it will be so quite, without the static of all those frequ devices ... no subliminal orders, no faked dimension of fear to motivate you to comply released from your dependency on others to entertain you ... does that mean you don't have to go to work, because no one has a wind up clock? |

During the 2003 blackout we had cell power for a day and landlines for a couple. At my work they had over 300 pots lines and T1 lines and only one T1 line which was a home run back to the Central Office stayed up. |

Quoting: 4oneone No cell phones No Land lines The flow of information will come to a stand still what will people do? People will find themselves facing doom alone and with whatever they have chosen to brandish as weapons: Atheists will moan and cry, turning either into zombies and/or minions of the nwo. Believers will confront doom according to their religion, choosing effectively to either fight or become part of the nwo out of fear. Nwo minions ( luciferians, new agers, lgbt and the like) will be heading to their fifth age with pride, joy, lusting over their most primal senses, giving their all to themselves and to Lucifer. ( for the brief time they are granted ofc) True followers of Jesus will face impending rapture, while persecution and beheadings from the previous groups ensue. We do not learn from history because our studies are brief and prejudiced. In a surprising manner, 250 years emerges as the average length of national greatness. This average has not varied for 3,000years. The stages of the rise and fall of great nations seem to be: The Age of Pioneers , The Age of Conquests ,The Age of Commerce ,The Age of Affluence ,The Age of Intellect ,The Age of Decadence. Decadence is marked by: Defensiveness, Pessimism, Materialism,Frivolity An influx of foreigners The Welfare State A weakening of religion. Decadence is due to: Too long a period of wealth and power, Selfishness Love of money ,The loss of a sense of duty. The life histories of great states are amazingly similar, and are due to internal factors. Their falls are diverse, because they are largely the result of external causes. - Sir John Glubb The Fate of Empires We are at the end of the Age of Decadence heading into COLLAPSE |
