She did a fully controlled double-blind GMO feeding study on pigs, due to their similar physiology to humans.

The results were not good.

The GMO fed female pigs had 25% heavier ovaries. (The males were neutered at 3 days, so their reproductive systems were not evaluated.)

Severe stomach inflammation was overall 2.6 times more likely in the GM fed pigs. 4 times more likely in males, 2.2 times more likely in the females.

Yet the FDA still considers all GM foods to be substantially equivalent to conventional crops, therefore they require no safety testing in the US.

A perfect example of how a meta study should be done.



She also brings up several problems with peer-reviewed scientific journals.

The real reason they don't want to do adequate long term safety testing, is they know the results will be bad. Might get in the way of making a buck at the expense of the long term health of the human race.

They goto great lengths to make sure testing cannot be done.

But agritech companies such as Monsanto, Pioneer and Syngenta go further. For a decade their user agreements have explicitly forbidden the use of the seeds for any independent research. Under the threat of litigation, scientists cannot test a seed to explore the different conditions under which it thrives or fails. They cannot compare seeds from one company against those from another company. And perhaps most important, they cannot examine whether the genetically modified crops lead to unintended environmental side effects.

That's the advantage of feeding studies. They don't need any seeds to test, just the same GM corn and soy that farmers are already feeding to their livestock.
