"MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police responded to Barack Obama School of Career and Technical Education on Wednesday afternoon, September 30th for an altercation.

Officers were dispatched to the school shortly before 2:30 p.m. to back up school resource officers.

Police say there were 30 to 40 students and outsiders fighting inside the school.

No major injuries were reported.

We’re told a pregnant student, who was being evaluated by a paramedic and apparently didn’t want to leave the fight, kicked a pregnant paramedic."

" Police are investigating the incident and will be making arrests and issuing citations to any student involved in the multiple fights, according to a statement.

The Barack Obama School of Career and Technical Education provides education on all grade levels, K-12. Formerly, it was Barack Obama Elementary, but was closed because of poor school performance. The school failed to meet expectations and had a math and reading proficiency rate of only 5%. Under the new umbrella of career and technical education and serving more grade levels, the school population is 90% African-American and over 93% of all students qualify for free or reduced price lunch.

According to the school's Facebook page, "Grades 6-12 will graduate fully prepared for college or a career."
