User ID: 48412925 United States 10/06/2015 11:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most news sites have disabled comments on politic posts. Quoting: AntiPC My theory is that this decreases the odds of someone waking people up in the comment section. Has anyone else noticed? Oh yea. I noticed big time. Especially since silly little local and liberal news stations and papers quickly get one upped by readers who show far more knowledge and facts concerning certain events and the so-called journalistic integrity gets called into question constantly. When the Communist News Network DC'd comments about a year and a half ago in the wake of the Newtown Shootings, I knew they were trying to protect their asses. And now you can't find comments anywhere. Some of my local TV station websites switched to Fuckbook from Disqus and since I refuse to sign up for that crap I have only one station here that lets me comment because my local ABC affiliate webmaster can't stand my ass. Fucking cowards. “Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave.” "Hello, I need a replacement filter for a Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro." “You actually slaughter each other over affairs of the spirit.” Da’an Earth-Final Conflict |

Quoting: AntiPC My theory is that this decreases the odds of someone waking people up in the comment section. Has anyone else noticed? The comments sections everywhere are sounding more like GLP than GLP but not in a good way, in the way someone trolls someone else and everyone gets annoyed. People are slowly getting angrier and angrier and they don't want to know that people aren't stupid, so, if they disable the comments then they can say people are happy and fine. |
robomont User ID: 23669040 United States 10/06/2015 11:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They have been doing this for about five years now.thats about when most everyone was going to fb.i personally watched fb lower likes on the pot initiative in cali.by over 50,000. Thats part of the reason i left fb.they are trying to corral us into just a dozen or so sites where they can control the narrative.the propaganda is thick on the tv stations in east texas.the dislike button will just be another manipulatable tool that will be no measure either.lacking no real meaning. Cotrolling the narrative seems to be the ultimate tool these days. |

Continue to speak out. Local television networks often have Facebook sites that allow comments that are seen by thousands of locals. _______________ They let me off with a warning and a couple of bullet holes. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 31965694 United States 10/06/2015 11:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | CNN disabled, DailyBeast, many others. They say "Leave a comment on social networks" ... Okay, like anyone is going to do that. They don't want people seeing the truth, just listen to their narrative and be a good boy. Quoting: AntiPC I like how most of them, if you CAN leave a comment, require you to do so with a Facebook account. Like everyone has a Facebook account. I assume that because there are so many assholes leaving particularly vulgar comments, that it begins to become too cumbersome to monitor. That's my take on it. I write - and when I've written something controversial, I've had to spend hours deleting offensive comments. If a comment adds to the discussion, I'll leave it. But if someone is REALLY bad, and many are, it just becomes too time consuming to delete comments and blacklist people. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 59149274 No conspiracy. Many tech depts for media outlets are under pressure to get as many friends and follows as possiblE. Yeah but fb will also censor or suspend you if they feel your out of line, they just want everyone posting in one place for control etc Wouldn't be surprised if fb is the internet one day and everything goes through it. |

Quoting: AntiPC It is picking up steam...more and more are not allowing comments. You'll notice they are trying to only allow comments on the articles that the public will agree w/them on; otherwise, they blindside yeah w/the article, then you can't comment. They are freaking cowards. |

Free Speech? that's only for the multi-billion dollar gov't backed media! In fairness, the 1st amendment restrains the government, not private companies. It can certainly be argued that media has become a de facto government PR agency, via Mockingbird, but strict interpretation says that CNN is not the government itself and not required to provide 1st amendment protection. What OP describes has certainly been ongoing and for the reasons most think. Too many comments outside of the approved narrative. |

Quoting: AntiPC This ties directly in with what Matt Drudge spoke of today on Alex Jones show. I do mean directly, too. He spoke how the elite wish to have facebook and twitter to become where news is garnered. Ran by automation with no real thought. It will be centralized in every way. Drudge will be dead in a year internet wise or real life. Change is coming fast. |
