Windows 10 Update Tries To Block Chrome, Firefox
Much as I like Windows 10, few would disagree that Microsoft’s attempts to force (and in some cases ‘accidentally’ trick) users into upgrading crossed the line a long time ago. Well, now Windows 10 is making bold new moves to ensure you do more things Microsoft wants…

The objective this time is to actively block further growth of Google Chrome and Firefox by trying to make users reconsider their decision to make it their default web browser. This somewhat unsporting behaviour was discovered by The Verge in an upcoming leaked build (10568) of Windows 10.

In it when users try to navigate to Settings > Default Apps and change their default web browser to Chrome or Firefox, Windows 10 will now instead produce a pop-up window entitled: “Give Microsoft Edge a shot”

I wouldnt say block, but its trying to sell its own brand, understandably.

"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the Weather."

Re: Windows 10 Update Tries To Block Chrome, Firefox
Thanks for pointing this out, seriously. I thought I was going bananas as every time I refresh or try to open a new window (Firefox), I get the "Firefox Not Responding" dropdown for 2 or three seconds and THEN the page reloads or opens up. I have 8 gigs of ram and thought that may have been the cause, but at any given time I'm at 10-12%. So Win 10s the culprit eh? Any advice outside of a fresh install or new OS?

A family member was gung-ho over Chrome until their PC wound up with replicating virus that overtook the browser in it's entirety. I was "tech support" so I unloaded everything I had on it. It was a bitch to get rid of because at first as I was deleting them individually but they were multiplying exponentially in a hidden temp folder. Thanks, but I think I'd rather try something else.
