SunTrust (Bank) is laying off about 100 tech workers and moving much of their work overseas after having the soon-to-be-terminated employees train some of the people who will do their work, Computerworld is reporting.

It took my friends son 1 1/2 YEARS to get a job in the US with a PhD in biomedical engineering from a top university - published 3 times in science journals-
He worked part time on a project as an unpaid VOLUNTEER for tow months just to do the work- was offered part time - for 6 months or so and then offered full time

I thought the original concept of allowing foreigners to attend US schools was so they could return home be an asset to their own country; from both technical expertise and from learning some of our (better) western values. Instead, they now stay and take our few remaining jobs while riding on a bunch of free benefits all while injecting their values into us.

That may have been the original rationale, but I doubt it was the actual reason for bringing these people in. India has over a billion people. The smartest are concentrated in bangalore and other tech hubs. The problem is they represent only a tiny portion of their population.
