They were greeted with, "The Lord has been raised! It is true! He has appeared to Simon." ... While they were still speaking about all this, he himself stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” In their panic and fright they thought they were seeing a ghost. He said to them, "Why are you troubled? Why do such ideas cross your mind? Look at my hands and my feet; it is really I. Touch me, and see that a ghost does not have flesh and bones as I do." As he said this he showed them his hands and feet. [His hands and feet were nailed to a wood cross during his execution by crucifixion]. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of cooked fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence. Then he said to them, "Recall those words I spoke to you when I was still with you: everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and psalms had to be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. Remain here in the city until you are clothed with power from on high." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 45898912 United States 10/31/2015 11:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Bible records numerous acts that are impossible for human beings to do that Jesus repeatedly did - for example, giving sight to someone blind from birth, and raising a man from the dead who was buried in a tomb for a couple days. In fact the Bible says that after Jesus performed this unprecedented miracle the Jewish religious leaders decided to kill him because it caused too many of the Jews to start following his teachings. The Bible says that some Jewish religious leaders who saw him perform another impossible miracle attributed it to Satan, and accused Jesus of being possessed by a demon. Jesus said people who are guilty of this kind of sin - witnessing a miracle that God only could have caused - but too stubborn to attribute it to God - that their sin will NEVER be forgiven. In other words, these people's minds will ALWAYS be closed to God - no matter what evidence is in front of them. They could be transported bodily up to heaven to witness the reality of heaven and God's love - and they would still stubbornly reject God. Therefore, those people by their own stubborn choice, will be condemned to everlasting existence in "outer darkness" as Jesus put it - far away from God - who is light, life, and love. People who stubbornly refuse to believe anything about Jesus Christ - including adamantly refusing to attribute the impossible image on the linen cloth to a miracle by Jesus Christ - are condemning themselves to everlasting existence in eternal darkness separated from God's light, life, and love. |
