I really feel beat up today. As most on here knows I have a beautiful dog named Icee. She is loving but also territorial.

So yesterday afternoon, I encountered 3 dogs that were roaming the neighborhood. I saw them from down the street and tried to signal them over but they were too skittish. I then proceeded to weed my flower bed which is what I came out to do originally.
All of a sudden I was accosted by paws all over my back and doggy licks. These babies wanted nothing more than to come in my house.
However, Icee was throwing a tantrum inside and screaming hyseterical. She wanted to get out by the dogs and they wanted to get in.

The whole incident had me upset as I wanted to help them but did not know if they carried disease they could pass on to Icee, or if the biggest one would attack Icee in a play for territory.

Long story short, I gave them food and water and called animal control. I was informed by animal control that they had no idea when they would come out. If I would have put them in the back yard, Icee would have hurled her body against the door til she got to them.

By the time I got back outside, the dogs were gone and I feel like I let them down. They came to me for help and the only thing I could do was feed them and give them water.

Today, I found a neighbor's yard I could put them in if they possibly came back and a shelter volunteer that would have taken them. But they never came back. I drove around looking for them and just feel like I let them down.

:'(

Please pray that someone found and took these dogs in / got them help. They have been roaming the neighborhood for days as evidenced by the dog piles we found in our front yard. But they are also very stealthy and are able to go un-noticed.

I know how you feel but you did your best. Holly also was not great with other dogs and I always had to scare off loose dogs. I felt bad but it was for everyone's protection. It was nice of you to give them food and water, and it's possible they will return for more.
Also keep in mind that three dogs is a pack and they behave differently than when they are alone. Anything could happen and it could have ended much worse. I volunteered at a shelter and I've seen dogs turn suddenly that were all playing together. Think of it this way: You protected Icee while helping the dogs, everyone was safe, so you did an awesome job my friend!
But I know exactly how you feel.
WW hugs
