And where did it say it's filled with grain? Old news because there have been three of four threads about this already. Grain was a joke, that is only mildly amusing if you follow US politics. Didn't see that, I just saw it today and started reading, but I don't understand the details and what is the great discovery - was hoping someone would explain. (OP) User ID: 70770485 Egypt 11/10/2015 07:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thermal scans reveal strange Pyramid results NEW thermal scans of Egypt’s Giza pyramids have identified temperature anomalies that may point to a secret passage in the enormous, 4500-year-old Pyramid of Cheops. Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el-Damaty and technical experts working on the project showed the higher temperature being detected in three specific adjacent stones at the bottom of the pyramid in a live thermal camera presentation to journalists. The scanning showed “a particularly impressive one (anomaly) located on the Eastern side of the Khufu pyramid at ground level,” the ministry said in a statement. The largest of the three Giza pyramids is known locally as Khufu and internationally as Cheops. Now, a new project known as "Scan Pyramids" will use radiography tools and thermal imaging to map millenia-old pyramids in Giza and Dahshur, Agence France-Presse reports. Related Content "The idea is to find the solution to the mystery of the pyramids," Mehdi Tayoubi, founder of a Paris-based organization joining the discovery team, tells AFP. "A similar attempt was made 30 years ago, but this is the first project at a global level using cutting-edge technology to look inside the pyramids." With this new project, scientists hope to discover hidden chambers, while also building models of the exteriors of the four pyramids, Ruth Michaelson writes for The Independent. The project will first focus on Dahshur's Bent Pyramid, then move on to the nearby Red Pyramid. Later, researchers will scan the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Pyramid of Khafre, the Associated Press reports. "There could be interesting things there, even a few meters deep, two or three blocks deep," scientist Matthieu Klein tells the AP. [link to www.techtimes.com] Archaeologists Will Use Cosmic Rays To Scan The Pyramids In Hopes Of Uncovering Secrets Of Ancient Egypt How could an ancient civilization have the skills, technology, and ingenuity to build the pyramids of Egypt, one of greatest monuments in the world? It's a mystery that has stumped archaeologists and researchers for centuries, but they will use our modern advancements in technology to scan the pyramids in hopes of uncovering the secrets of ancient Egypt. A team of researchers from Egypt, Canada, France and Japan are teaming up with the support of the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities for a new project called "Scan Pyramids" that will use radiography and thermal imaging tools to nonintrusively scan and map the pyramids of Giza and Dahshur. "The idea is to find the solution to the mystery of the pyramids," Mehdi Tayoubi, founder of a Paris-based organization Heritage, Innovation and Preservation that is joining the team, told Agence France-Presse. "A similar attempt was made 30 years ago, but this is the first project at a global level using cutting-edge technology to look inside the pyramids." The team will use cosmic ray muons, which are subatomic particles than can penetrate just about anything, along with drone-mounted scanners, infrared thermography, and 3D reconstruction technology to peer inside the ancient monuments. It's part of an effort to find the pyramid's range in density, discover hidden chambers, and attempt to solve some of the mysteries of just how they were built. They plan to make 3D models after the scanning is done based on combining the different data sets. It's just amazing after all these years they still don't know everything about those Pyramids. Apparently the whole Giza Plateau has not been completely explored. They did a mapping of it long time ago, but the last years everything stopped kind of. There was something under the Sphynx also they said was the Temple of Osiris and then it disappeared from news.
