Dear Governor [NAME],
I am writing your office today to bring to your attention the fact that twenty-seven other governors from the states Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin have publicly withdrawn their state's support in regard to accepting Syrian "refugees". I believe it is in our state's best interest to follow suit. In addition and in the future, no amount of refugees from any country coming to our state should be accepted.
There is a naturalization process through which a foreign citizen or national can become a U.S. citizen. In order to be naturalized, an applicant must first be qualified to apply for citizenship. Then, he or she must complete an application, attend an interview, and pass an English and a civics test.
Please accept this correspondence as notice that there are residents of our state that strongly disapprove of the actions taken by our federal government.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
