Imagine there are two sides that have the ability to press a button and turn heaven into Earth entirely, and instantly, or press a button and literally enslave each and every single sentient human being inside a mind-holographic-physical cage wherein they would be drained all life blood and spiritual energy and then vaporized forever.

How would this work? What would you do to put an end to it without destroying the entire planet?

So here, imagine both sides said, "Ok let's have an agreement. We let each other do what we are doing now, even though we are complete opposites. Each side checks the other and we only take action in order to create a complete balance between one side and the other's impact on humanity so that humanity has the chance to decide for itself how to evolve."

That way, the people who chase power can destroy and impact all they want, and the people who want to save and enlighten can have their impact all they want.

One side doesn't directly interact with another side. They only both act out their displays on the people and one rules through power and disabling possibilities or owning them, while another cultivates and saves through the creation of new possibilities and the sharing of them through viable channels.

Now imagine this whole turn of things this past few thousand years is the result of humanity allowing it's collective subconscious to inch and lean towards the oppressive and fear-based side instead of the self-enlightened.

At this point not one side actually controlled humanity towards where it went.

Both sides kept each other in check and humanity actually leaned whatever way it did based on it's own internal mechanism.

Such a feat would be the most complicated display in the history of the planet, possibly on part with planetary and cosmic proportions.

But it would also mean that humanity led itself where ever it did, and not any single group or person.

Now imagine that there are elemental/cosmic beings that keep the forces of nature and space/time in relativity with human consciousness and are actually the "one's" controlling the balance between the two sides of humanity.

Or, imagine a bunch of weird creatures got together to take charge but keep fighting each other...
