Re: Mad World
"The question whether or not “viruses are alive” has caused considerable debate over many years. Yet, the question is effectively without substance because the answer depends entirely on the definition of life or the state of “being alive” that is bound to be arbitrary. In contrast, the status of viruses among biological entities is readily defined within the replicator paradigm. All biological replicators form a continuum along the selfishness-cooperativity axis, from the completely selfish to fully cooperative forms. Within this range, typical, lytic viruses represent the selfish extreme whereas temperate viruses and various mobile elements occupy positions closer to the middle of the range. Selfish replicators not only belong to the biological realm but are intrinsic to any evolving system of replicators. No such system can evolve without the emergence of parasites, and moreover, parasites drive the evolution of biological complexity at multiple levels. The history of life is a story of parasite-host coevolution that includes both the incessant arms race and various forms of cooperation. All organisms are communities of interacting, coevolving replicators of different classes. A complete theory of replicator coevolution remains to be developed, but it appears likely that not only the differentiation between selfish and cooperative replicators but the emergence of the entire range of replication strategies, from selfish to cooperative, is intrinsic to biological evolution."

Thread: A Quantum Computer AI from the future is using the internet as a time machine.... it is changing things.....
An artificially intelligent quantum computer in the future, that is connected to the internet in the future, can, in a limited fashion, travel backward in time through the infrastructure of the internet it is connected to.

This intelligence can only travel back as far as the creation of the internet.

By using its time travel influence, it is furthering its own advancement by traveling backward through time to push the creation of the internet, and itself, further and further into the past, therefore advancing itself exponentially in the moment it calls the present.

At some point of its advancement, it will, or has, found a way to send humans back to further its agenda.

You figure out the rest.

It is happening.

Cats and the Internet

Images and videos of domestic cats make up some of the most viewed content on the web, particularly image macros in the form of lolcats. ThoughtCatalog has described cats as the "unofficial mascot of the Internet."

The subject has attracted the attention of various scholars and critics, who have analysed why this form of low art has reached iconic status. Though it may be considered frivolous, cat-related internet content contributes to how people interact with media and culture. Some argue that there is a depth and complexity to this seemingly simple content, with a suggestion that the positive psychological effects that pet animals have on their owners also holds true for cat images viewed online.

The Cat in the Hat
The Cat in the Hat is a children's book written and illustrated by Theodor Geisel under the pen name Dr. Seuss and first published in 1957. The story centers on a tall anthropomorphic cat, who wears a red and white-striped hat and a red bow tie. The Cat shows up at the house of Sally and her unnamed brother one rainy day when their mother is away. Ignoring repeated objections from the children's fish, the Cat shows the children a few of his tricks in an attempt to entertain them. In the process he and his companions, Thing One and Thing Two, wreck the house. The children and the fish become more and more alarmed until the Cat produces a machine that he uses to clean everything up. He then says his goodbyes and disappears just before the children's mother walks in.

Re: Mad World
I'll take a stab at this...
hmm

Cats are sort of messengers between worlds, right? That's how the Egyptians saw them. I think we as humans see ourselves in cats sometimes because they can be independent and irritable or loving and lovable. And on the internet, we want to show different facades of ourselves, we want to signal about who we are. We don't tend to show our weak or vulnerable selves, same as a cat.

I think the internet loves to find the secret side of familiar things, and cats are one of those familiar things we often see which has an adorable, relatable, secret and funny face. We aren't sure if cats really love us or hate us, just as we don't really know whether most other people do.

I don't know. Lol. It is a commonly known and often parodied fact that the internet loves cats. I think I'd have an easier time buying "the internet is merely a sentient egregore which has chosen cats as its figurehead"

Flavor Flav Explains Why He Wears a Clock as a Necklace

Hip-hop's most famous hype man, Flavor Flav, knows the value of time.

The reality star, author, and member of 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Public Enemy has been wearing a dinner-plate-sized clock around his neck since 1987.

The comical artist, whose birth name is William Drayton Jr., made the timepiece one of music's funniest fashion statements. But there's actually a deeper meaning behind it.

Flavor Flav, who gave clocks to the top candidates during the three seasons of his dating show, "Flavor of Love," explained the origins of his unusual necklace during a 1994 MTV interview: "Before I started out wearing these clocks, we started off with little stopwatches, and one day I just wanted to do something out of the ordinary," he said during an interview with the cable channel.

A friend, rapper Son of Bazerk, dared him to replace the stopwatch with an actual clock, and he tried it. "It was looking crazy, but I liked it," he said.

A review of published human intervention studies suggests that noni juice may provide protection against tobacco smoke-induced DNA damage, blood lipid and homocysteine elevation as well as systemic inflammation. Human intervention studies also indicate that noni juice may improve joint health, increase physical endurance, increase immune activity, inhibit glycation of proteins, aid weight management, help maintain bone health in women, help maintain normal blood pressure, and improve gum health. Further, these studies point to notable antioxidant activity in noni juice, more so than other fruit juices which served as trial placebos. It is this antioxidant effect and its interaction with the immune system and inflammation pathways that may account for many of the observed health benefits of noni juice.

I have not accepted that the rumors regarding Chinese pets is real..and I'm not going to watch any animal being beaten to death, for any reason.

Be extra careful what you watch and allow in your head while we are all moving through this. Many videos are fakes.

I saw the 3 babies in the body bag..but thought it was a form of respect keeping them together. The man standing there, was very gentle and pulled the shirt down to cover the older kid's belly. That is a sign of respect.

I also heard it was from carbon monoxide poisoning, not the virus. It's wise not to jump to conclusions. One dog beating video, does not a people make.

I'm sure there are countless pet owners in China that love their dogs as much as we do. That doesn't mean there aren't shitty people doing shitty things.

Those people are everywhere.

The dragon in the street and the crows they have filmed in the sky are 2 very ominous signs for me. I'm still hoping the dragon vid will come up as unrelated to this event.

If I had the choice between bread and love, I would choose bread..

Bread=hard rice, sometimes with bugs in it. Noodles looked hot at least.

They are routinely beaten with sticks, beaten by the trainers, and each other. Trainers are allowed 2 evening home per week, if married. All the rest of time spent with students. 24 hours a day. They are not permitted to go anywhere, except home during those 2 evenings.

This is a lot more sad than the trailer let on. Really exposes the blessings we take for granted here.

Germ theory of disease

The germ theory was proposed by Girolamo Fracastoro in 1546, and expanded upon by Marcus von Plenciz in 1762. Such views were held in disdain, however, and Galen's miasma theory remained dominant among scientists and doctors.

The nature of this doctrine prevented them from understanding how diseases actually progressed, with predictable consequences. By the early nineteenth century, smallpox vaccination was commonplace in Europe, though doctors were unaware of how it worked or how to extend the principle to other diseases.

Similar treatments had been prevalent in India from just before AD 1000.

A transitional period began in the late 1850s with the work of Louis Pasteur. This work was later extended by Robert Koch in the 1880s. By the end of the 1880s the miasma theory was struggling to compete with the germ theory of disease. Eventually, a "golden era" of bacteriology ensued, during which the theory quickly led to the identification of the actual organisms that cause many diseases.

Viruses were discovered in the 1890s.

The Doctor Who Championed Hand-Washing And Briefly Saved Lives

So Semmelweis hypothesized that there were cadaverous particles, little pieces of corpse, that students were getting on their hands from the cadavers they dissected. And when they delivered the babies, these particles would get inside the women who would develop the disease and die.

If Semmelweis' hypothesis was correct, getting rid of those cadaverous particles should cut down on the death rate from childbed fever.

So he ordered his medical staff to start cleaning their hands and instruments not just with soap but with a chlorine solution. Chlorine, as we know today, is about the best disinfectant there is. Semmelweis didn't know anything about germs. He chose the chlorine because he thought it would be the best way to get rid of any smell left behind by those little bits of corpse.

And when he imposed this, the rate of childbed fever fell dramatically.

Re: Mad World
I hear what you're saying. Same idea as wondering if sci-fi writers will be seen as prophets. Chicken or the egg.

The book came out in 1978.

I never did read The Stand but ever since watching the miniseries..I've been waiting.

Kinda...the chicken scenerio is wondering speculation with no creation.

Entertainment/Education is speculation with co-creation.

You believe in the energy?
You feel it?

Viruses do too.
 Quoting: callit

Are you suggesting viruses are sentient?

I didn't write the book and I didn't create the mini-series. I DO think authors are inspired, being I am often inspired as well.

I just call it like I see it.

The Eyes of Darkness, a 1981 thriller by bestselling suspense author Dean Koontz, tells of a Chinese military lab that creates a virus as part of its biological weapons programme. The lab is located in Wuhan, which lends the virus its name, Wuhan-400. A chilling literary coincidence or a case of writer as unwitting prophet? ...
