Children can't take care of themselves.

We Americans know the wills of what runs through our veins from ancestors..which survived horrors we can only attempt to recreate through fiction and film.

We're survivors and we owe to those that came before us. That's how I see it.

American Civil War

The American Civil War was a civil war in the United States from 1861 to 1865, fought between the northern United States (loyal to the Union) and the southern United States (that had seceded from the Union and formed the Confederacy).

The civil war began primarily as a result of the long-standing controversy over the enslavement of black people. War broke out in April 1861 when secessionist forces attacked Fort Sumter in South Carolina shortly after Abraham Lincoln had been inaugurated as the President of the United States. The loyalists of the Union in the North, which also included some geographically western and southern states, proclaimed support for the Constitution. They faced secessionists of the Confederate States in the South, who advocated for states' rights in order to uphold slavery.

Point is..there were a lot of lonely people out there already, and social distancing and forced self-isolation is going to exacerbate that problem.

Loneliness is not about being alone. It is about feeling alone with no one to relate to.

Disrupting everyone's routine, taking away their ability to make a wage, terrify them with a pandemic and then lock everyone inside with their families regardless of readiness..

It's all the worst parts, of all the things history taught us to avoid, all at once.

You know what this reminds me of..

People who would purposely torture their Sims, by taking away convenience, food, sleep, toilet, social stimulation.

Putting all their bars into the red..and then letting them go..seemed to have a noticeable psychological effect on the Sim..who then is easier to keep happy.. once they go back to having a toilet, food, sleep, and social stimulation.

By taking away everything we have come to expect and take for granted(travel, school, work, entertainment, church)..if this all blows over..wil people be naturally more grateful on the other side of this?

hmm

Germ theory of disease

The germ theory was proposed by Girolamo Fracastoro in 1546, and expanded upon by Marcus von Plenciz in 1762. Such views were held in disdain, however, and Galen's miasma theory remained dominant among scientists and doctors.

The nature of this doctrine prevented them from understanding how diseases actually progressed, with predictable consequences. By the early nineteenth century, smallpox vaccination was commonplace in Europe, though doctors were unaware of how it worked or how to extend the principle to other diseases.

Similar treatments had been prevalent in India from just before AD 1000.

A transitional period began in the late 1850s with the work of Louis Pasteur. This work was later extended by Robert Koch in the 1880s. By the end of the 1880s the miasma theory was struggling to compete with the germ theory of disease. Eventually, a "golden era" of bacteriology ensued, during which the theory quickly led to the identification of the actual organisms that cause many diseases.

Viruses were discovered in the 1890s.

The Doctor Who Championed Hand-Washing And Briefly Saved Lives

So Semmelweis hypothesized that there were cadaverous particles, little pieces of corpse, that students were getting on their hands from the cadavers they dissected. And when they delivered the babies, these particles would get inside the women who would develop the disease and die.

If Semmelweis' hypothesis was correct, getting rid of those cadaverous particles should cut down on the death rate from childbed fever.

So he ordered his medical staff to start cleaning their hands and instruments not just with soap but with a chlorine solution. Chlorine, as we know today, is about the best disinfectant there is. Semmelweis didn't know anything about germs. He chose the chlorine because he thought it would be the best way to get rid of any smell left behind by those little bits of corpse.

And when he imposed this, the rate of childbed fever fell dramatically.

china is shut down. the business accounting principle adage, fifo, first in first out, will work to their advantage in the long picture.

in the current situation we are downstream from the financial carnage.

in 2008, we survived the financial crisis by being the first ones to deal with the carnage, we did so by unloading/selling the debt to eu banks.

the rest of the world was downstream from us. fortunately we were able to print enough money to keep the western world afloat. we essentially cut a fledgling economic russia loose, to survive on it's own means. china at that time had no liquid assets invested in the financial markets.

russia is looking for payback for the financial strife that they were forced to undergo.

china precipitated the 2008 financial crisis in dec 2007, by devaluing their outside yuan market by 15%, causing the lehman bank default. the dominos fell when the derivatives that were in place to prevent a crash were found to be non existent. the failure was a financial supply chain failure! lol

Yes, we're on lockdown here and only allowed to go to the grocery store, doctor, or pharmacy if we aren't essential workers. All businesses are closed, except the ones mentioned above and gas stations.

The sale of alcoholic beverages was suspended weeks ago. It's still on the shelves, but no on can buy it.

The rules for the curfew are:

Men are allowed to go out on Tues, Thurs, and Sat for a time span of 2 hours depending on the last number on their ID.

It's the same for women, except that women can only go out on Mon, Wed, Fri.

Anyone caught outside when they aren't supposed to be will be fined a minimum of $50,000.

The first few days before Oregon got the full lockdown order..we were sent an email to be told our income for the foreseeable future..has disappeared.

My partner being much less of a depressive than I am..instantly sprung into action..due his belief that we 'younger people' are at less of a risk, than those of our elder community.

He applied for something called Instacart some weeks back..and is still waiting to hear about the background check.. I assume due to backlog..like everything else.

His 99 y/o grandma whom we shares a long wall with..was running low on food, so it fell to him to provide her, and us.

While waiting in line to purchase said food earlier today, he ran into someone who was delivering for "Instacart ' and mentioned the 'tips were insane'..

I delivered pizza in this college town in 1999 and I recall my tip then. They were good.

I'm trapped by life.

I give myself a reason to live every day..since I was 7 years old.

Same here, of course I am just a watcher… used to ignore your posts, then was red flagged to watch you…
Hmmm…, interesting must say - negative merit similarity experience was quite alarming, crazier shit on my side…

Ouch – “selfless motive” & “Save the last bullet for yourself.”

Are you okay Seer???

As a female, being taken alive by enemy combatants is not an option.

All snipers carry a sidearm. Leave the last bullet for yourself, is pretty clear.

I read Pretty Birds in my 20s. It all about a female sniper during the Bosnian/Kosovo genocide.

Cheers.

I'm just considering how I could reinvent myself using different scenarios.

Scenarios so far:

Best case: Buy a pizza joint offering different type of pizza. New York, Chicago, Italian..etc.

Middle case: Run a small orphanage for children orphaned during this crisis.

Worse case: Become a sniper to protect my space and people.

I could see myself doing one, if not all 3 at different times.

I don't do well with sudden change..so I plan for any potential, such that I'm already ahead of it.

4) you are good with your hands – can you sew??? I’m suggesting creating the face masks for kids and pets…

because you are asking me questions about my answer seers question
to acquire a satisfactory answer about my answer to seer you first ask seer
does my reply fit seers question

because the meaning of my reply is responding to the meaning of seers question

Re: Mad World
I'm an artist by trade. We craft everything from the ground up starting with raw metal sheet, or wire. Our shop is very extensive, with punch presses, shears, rolling mills, grinding and polishing systems.and of course the torch.

I should be currently setting up at this moment for my first Market of the year, which always falls on the first Saturday in April. Always a nice bump to start our season, as people love Market and get excited when it reopens.

There are certain foods, you can only get there and are missed over the Winter as well.

Market has been formally shut down due the no gathering laws..until at least May..but all our shows in May, have been canceled. I doubt Market will be opened by May.

I use to have a sewing machine I used all the time..but it's gone. I'm on the fence with the mask issue and I don't think they should be created in non sterile setting. Asking for problems.

I'll check our your vid here in a bit.
