Quoting: Seer777 A covid case on Monday in the first grade class, saw them both pulled out but they are happy to be back and have adapted well to the way of things. My nephew is in love with our dachshund. He is super lovable. https://imgur.com/xLCCkaG Bloody hell...forget sometimes how rampant that frigging thing is...got lucky with my state choice apparently. [link to youtu.be (secure)] Depends on the why, I would suppose. I mean, one of the arguments for weed prohibition was that it tempted white women to listen to jazz and hang out with African americans so... Dealing with the underlying issues, both personal and society, that drive people to those extremes... Might make some headway with destructive addictions that way, but people will have their own ways of blowing off steam. Thank you... sorry don't even know what to add heh. She was a beautiful soul. After one of the children got sick, he chose to follow Eleanor as she carried the child back to her 'apartment'. Quoting: Seer777 Franklin Roosevelt having grown up surrounded by extreme wealth was so horrified by what he saw and smelled in the tenements, he remarked that he had 'no idea that people lived like that'. That experience would stay with him, into his later presidency and beyond. Sometimes it is ignorance. Not malice. 75th Anniversary of the Wagner-Steagall Housing Act of 1937 Quoting: Seer777 Two weeks later, Roosevelt made the point more succinctly in his Second Inaugural Address: "I see one-third of a nation ill-housed, ill-clad, ill-nourished. . . . The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.” [link to www.fdrlibrary.org (secure)] President Roosevelt lent his full support to Wagner’s efforts and made adequate and affordable housing a priority in his second term. In his State of the Union Message of January 6, 1937, President Roosevelt spoke of the urgent need for the new Congress to address the housing situation: “There are far-reaching problems still with us for which democracy must find solutions if it is to consider itself successful. For example, many millions of Americans still live in habitations which not only fail to provide the physical benefits of modern civilization but breed disease and impair the health of future generations. The menace exists not only in the slum areas of the very large cities, but in many smaller cities as well. It exists on tens of thousands of farms, in varying degrees, in every part of the country.” [link to www.fdrlibrary.org (secure)] [link to youtu.be (secure)] Speaking of beer..I was surprised to hear the Temperance movement was attached the Woman's Suffrage at one point, which led to it being looked unfavorably upon by males, to later find out that it was due to drunken domestic violence and spending all one's money at the saloon with nothing left for the nearly powerless wife left at home with the kids. Quoting: Seer777 A lot of women watched their kids starve. A blessing most don't see today, but some still do. [link to youtu.be (secure)] I asked Google earlier 'why some people get mean' when they're drinking.. Quoting: Seer777 I was fortunate enough never to really experience mean drunks. Maybe either because I got lucky or knew well enough to stay away from them. The reason the Temperance Movement was tied in with the Women's Rights Movement, was because in the 1800s, women/children had no rights and were at the mercy of abusive drunks. It is difficult to fathom what a gift birth control was to not just women but to being able to plan WHEN and IF to conceive. https://imgur.com/a/TPOfD uzsayin She was actually declared an animal in order for the ASPCA to take action as at the time there were Laws to protect animals, not children It's like a slow grind to get people to accept common sense. The girl above had to be declared an animal so that she could be removed from the woman that abused her, because they had no other way to do it. It's not that people didn't know it was wrong, they were less the avenue in how to deal with it. We slowly, slowly change things so that there are ways to meet these types of situations properly as both a country and a species. That's how I see it.
