I think at this point, it represents the past ten years of my life. I'm entering a new decade now...in a sense I wanted to preserve my experiences, because they are who I am, but I also want a way to remind myself, moving forward. I put it on the wrist I have a bunch of self harm scars on, facing me...so it's hopefully going to function as a message to myself, to remember the past but also to let it go, somewhat

The blue butterfly is a really good encapsulation for a lot of the stuff that's happened over these 10 years, the good and the bad, and the horrid, and the incredible or wonderous. it's not so much that I'm putting it behind me obviously, but it's more like I wanted to put it all together in one symbol, in one place

This was indeed my very first.
I was a tiny bit nervous going into it - my sister did hers first (she has a million) and made me wait which was like...c'mon you could have at least let the newbie who wants a small tattoo go first

The pain really wasn't too bad, though I know if you get it somewhere like on the elbow or bone or chest its much worse. My sister got one on her elbow today and she was really gritting her teeth.

What kind of symbol are you thinking of getting? Honestly I see why people get addicted to it, it's sort of a rush

I have no tattoos but I’m not against getting one at some point if there is enough meaning in it for me.

It was a habit for the identification of bodies or in those slightly more paranoid: body parts. People's minds change, thus they are often reminders of stupidity or poor impulse control.

I recall when I was a sophomore in high school, I went with some questionable friends to a tattoo studio. On the way there, the two boys were egging each other on and talking about what they were gonna get.

They both decided on the Mickey’s beer hornet. After some thought..they wanted to have the bee the holding a beer in its hand.

During this exchange I couldn’t help but think they were being impulsive and a bee holding a beer, was a stupid tattoo.


Every time I thought about what I’d like permanently tattooed on my body..I recall that memory.

I didn’t hang out with that group much longer after that but the memory sticks. Like that stupid tattoo.

And the tattoo we are talking about is of the same ilk that muse put on her foot 11 years ago.

Whoa..blast from past memory. I remember how badly people made fun of her toes..but don’t remember a tattoo. Maybe I remember. Was it tiny?

Blue butterfly isn’t a monarch but does have similar connotations. I raised monarchs as a child. Now I haven’t seen one in decades.
