Re: Mad World
March 2nd 2020

How is it not blatantly obvious as a born freedom loving American, that people who are the backbones of our communities, are being 'quarantined'(imprisoned) by just have POTENTIALLY come in contact with someone, who was infected?

Potentially is the BIG word here.

Prawns are in quarantine. No one wants them around. That is why they are segregated.

It's utterly retarded to think this isn't already everywhere and stopgap measures like locking police/fire personal/teachers/and doctors..is worth good God damn.

The youth are already not big on religion and this will add fuel to that fire. Atheism and unaffiliated being is the fastest growing categories.

A bit like how Ash Wednesday in Italy spread CV-19 all over that country..and the cult in South Korea that spread it there. The first area in NYC was largely infected was a religious community.

It(religion) will be seen as 'at fault' at spreading the virus. Even if it is or isn't true. It will be slanted that way. Further disenfranchising the youth from the elders.

That's why they are releasing sound bites of Christians saying things like 'I won't get Corona virus because the blood of Jesus covers me.'

I had an iguana for a time as a teen. Totally worthless pet in my opinion and let me know I wasn't cut out to be a reptile keeper.

Mean little thing.

I heard geckos are sweet though.

Perhaps a phone call to reconnect? Maybe she is thinking about you too.

I dislike taking back things I've said, matter of principle in showing one's trustworthiness and all.

But I'm still adjusting to my own particular 'new normal'. Which is, once back at work, disallowed overtime and thus actually having nights off on the weekend. Hanging a mount for a screen in a glade took much less time than expected, and well, after that's done and their lunch (my dinner) has been served and from a beer run returned, I'm just not tired in the slightest.

You are correct, from all I've come to know in what you've experienced and heard about iguanas and geckos.

Leopard geckos are popular pets for good reason, and it goes beyond being sweet. They're inquisitive, contemplative, eager for interaction, and just about as low maintenance a pet as possible. My inseparable feline sibling pair of Brains and Moon really loved interacting with her too. And they even bark sometimes :)

But the best part is when holding them, you can boop them with your nose, and they'll give ya a lick.

At least those are the impressions Newt left on me. She lived to be sixteen.

Aww. Geckos smile too.

There was a time when I was in college all I wanted was a red eyed tree frog.

I thought they looked so amazing..until I learned they were nocturnal(constant noise at night) and would make a quick snack for my cat, had it got out.

I did end up making a terrarium/water feature in an old fish tank..but never got the frog.

They were around $120/ea IIRC, and out of my price range in college.

Having a red-eye used to be on my bucket list, erased at some point, not struck through. It was really neat to discover several years back that a local head shop owner had taken an interest in keeping and breeding dart frogs.

As far as pets go, though, a russian blue and an emerald tree boa are the only ones still to be crossed off my list.

I have found myself primarily gathering for quite some time the understanding of all it would take to create a small, self-sustaining garden space suitable for a plethora of native wildlife.

Attracting nesting gold finches, so far I think, is going to be the most difficult part.

I'd have a bunch of pets, if I could both afford and had room for them.

I had a pet parakeet as a kid that would dance and sing any time I put on my Barbara Streisand record. He loved it. He was a sweet bird..that knew how to open his cage and one day he got out..and my cat walked up to me, with my bird in his mouth.

I was eating pizza. I was pretty upset. Moment is still crystal clear in my memory.

It gladdens me to know you see it as such. Gardening is most definitely a form of art. It's the most difficult one, at least for my part, into which I've ever embarked, integrating patience, respect, dedication, and an awareness of others' needs.

The realization of being drawn to the lilliputian sorts of composition photography opportunities I am drawn to came quite a while later. It started off in my front lawn, planting things that everyone might see, but then I felt silly squatting or lying down to hold a camera steady where everyone could see.

So I started transplanting and focusing where I had privacy, and no kidding - the plants are much more happy.

I watched the 7th episode of season 1 of The Tudors, a couple nights back.

When a plague AKA 'The Sweating Sickness'..kills large portions of the population.

There are no clips to share..but one of the most applicable scenes, is when Henry..a germaphobe in his own right before knowing what germs were..takes to his 'medicine cabinet' of that day, swallowing and ingesting any tincture, herb, pill..his doctors and attendants made available to him.

This short documentary is a definite recommend to understand how long we as a species have been dealing with these events..and how, at the time..they figured to best treat it.

When listening you know they are talking about a fever, and how to regulate the temperature of the person afflicted was the only way they felt successful at fighting it.

The Sweating Sickness AKA The Sweat..took people in hours. Not days or weeks.

We still don't know what it was.

Re: Mad World
Losing faith is a whole lot more difficult and personally devastating to foundational belief system, than slipping back into it.

I found myself slipping the other day after reading a story of some drummer who claims to have 'gone to Hell' while in a CV-19 coma. I settled myself with logic and decided it was a fever dream. Nightmares are often caused by overheating, while sleeping.

Feeling that familiar prickle of fear of Hell, Pascal's Wager comes to call. Fighting through that, when faced with evidence..to the contrary isn't easy either.

At the moment, I'm convinced that God is like a robot. A super quantum AI that created this simulation..we are all trapped in both to ensure its becoming and entertain itself on the backs of our constant suffering.

When I read about that plane crash yesterday..where a bank president was one of 2 survivors..showed me this world belongs to evil. Of all people the fates would save..a bank president.

The most evil, greedy people in the world.

That's where I am at with it at the moment.

Re: Mad World
At this point I just have to get over praying.

I've done it for so long, and so often..it is more of habit to reduce anxiety. Now I catch myself doing it, and stop.

After decades of unanswered prayers..and fellow believers that will just say 'you're doing wrong'..I'm done with it.

Stand on my own. I don't need prayer anymore. I have to let it go.

All words and thoughts can be viewed as "prayers"...

Who defines your definition?

I do. I know when I'm praying versus any other thoughts.

The intent is totally different.

It was a crutch I was using to sooth anxiety. Almost like OCD..where there is ritual to it.
