Is Rush backing Cruz for the Presidency?

I agree with that, but I'm done caring about it. Obama broke that seal, and now, it will never matter again. The Democrats can't say anything, or they open Barry up to another round with the birthers, and the Republicans won't say anything about it, so it's a nonissue, unfortunately. I think the way things are, from now on, is if you have any legitimate claim to citizenship at birth, you're good, divided loyalties be damned. At least, with Cruz, I don't worry about him being loyal to Cuba or Canada, whereas, with Barry, I still worry about his loyalties to Indonesia and Kenya over the US.

At some point all candidates will say or do something which you or I or Rush or others disapprove. We both listen to Rush and we apparently disagree. That's ok. Really, it would be unnatural for people to agree on everything.

Rush has spoken highly of Cruz. He has also defended Trump at times. Trump's "maniac" comment about Cruz is just par for the course with Trump. He heard Cruz's "judgement" comment and hit back twice as hard. It is what he does. It is part of the reason he is so popular. Done right it is spectacularly corrective and admirable. It can be carried too far though and be distasteful and that's what I thought happened this time.

Ask yourself. Is it anywhere near the same to say that you don't trust someone's judgment and to respond by calling the other person a maniac? No. It is an overreaction. It is sophomoric name calling and classic Trump. I don't trust Trump's judgment either, but I wouldn't resort to calling him petty names and I don't think he is a maniac.

We disagree. That's ok. My point is that bent you believe you are hearing from Rush is perfectly normal. Different people have difference sensibilities. When it fits your preferences you like it. Apparently when it doesn't you think Rush must be "hanging on someone's nuts". Equally sophomoric. If I am not mistaken Cruz & Rubio's parents don't meet this criteria & therefore should be ineligible to run for the office of the presidency.

It's not that both parents must be born on US soil. It's that both parents must be US citizens at the time of the child's birth, and it's kind of debatable whether the child must be born on US soil in order to be a natural born citizen. It was important enough, in 2008, though, that the Senate felt the need to declare McCain's birth on a US military base was okay. A parent could have been born on US soil, but later changed his citizenship before his child was born, and that child would not be a natural born citizen by virtue of being born with divided loyalties.

Cruz, Rubio, and Jindal were all born to parents who were not US citizens at the time of their children's births, and Cruz has the added complication of having been born in Canada, having just recently renounced his Candadian citizenship. I don't know how one could claim to be a natural born American citizen having been born a Canadian-Cuban-American, but that's the world we live in these days.

I am trying to find a court ruling I had saved somewhere that stated both parents had to be born on US soil in order to be considered natural born as well as the offspring to be considered eligible to run for the presidency...

It's been a while, but I was deep in on the birther thing for several years. There are two ways one can be an American citizen at birth, jus soli and jus sanguinis (sp?). Jus soli means born on American soil. At its lowest level, that's an anchor baby. Jus sanguinis means both parents were American citizens at the time of the child's birth, but there is no requirement that both parents be also jus soli. We have plenty of former presidents whose parents came here as immigrants, and became citizens, so I don't think you're going to find a requirement that both parents also be NBCs. Ideally, a natural born citizen has both jus soli and jus sanguinis, but an argument can be made that, as long as a person is born to two American citizen parents, as in a case where a child is born while his American parents are on vacation in another country and no right of jus soli exists in that country, that child is an NBC.

It's all irrelevant, though. Barry broke the seal, and this will never be an issue again.

My guess is after tomorrow's debate 3 or 4 presidential republican hopefuls will drop out within a week timeframe & solidify Rubio or Cruz to lead the Republicans into taking out Trump quickly heading into Iowa..
