Flint, Mich. So much lead in children’s blood they’ve declared a state of emergency
Not really breaking news but I came across it and thought I'd share.

The Hurley Medical Center released a study this September that confirmed what many Flint parents had feared for over a year: the proportion of infants and children with above average levels of lead in their blood has nearly doubled since the city switched from the Detroit water system to using the Flint River as its water source in 2014.

[link to www.msn.com]

“For more than 18 months, state and local government officials ignored irrefutable evidence that the water pumped from the Flint River exposed the Plaintiffs and the Plaintiff Class to extreme toxicity,” the complaint reads. “The deliberately false denials about the safety of the Flint River water was as deadly as it was arrogant.”

Thank you for the pine, that was lightning fast.
I think it's terribly unfortunate that they just lied to everyone for 18 months and told them it was safe to drink. Apparently the water came out cloudy with a foul odor but they were told that it was basically their imagination and to drink up. The effects on those kids are permanent.

We have all kinds of shit in our water here, mercury is one of the worst problems and it has made the people nuts. There is also chromium , lead and strontium. In the town where I live 1 out of every 187 people is registered as a sex offender and in a nearby town just west of here it's 1 out of 27. An no, I'm not exaggerating, almost all of the kids in this area are victims of molestation and it's usually a family member. I never drank the water because I suspected there was something in it when i saw how weird the people were acting, I knew there had to be a common thread. There are a lot of people that are just plain batshit crazy, you have to be careful and avoid eye contact and socializing, just mind you own business. The funny thing is you can drive 15 miles north or 18 miles south and the people are perfectly normal so it's something in the environment without a doubt.

Re: Flint, Mich. So much lead in children’s blood they’ve declared a state of emergency
so horrible what is happening everywhere in the world- IK Flint is crack capital of the world- even met quite few from there and they all say same how horrible a place it was- years ago too it all started- it's like Detroit's problems suddenly filtered out from it...some ?'s i wish this article would address instead of giving weird snapshots of individuals:

1. Where's the chlorine waste coming from? Up river, from a water bottling company, the city water dept. itself? Well at least we know that the city's gov't has been payed well to let it go on that long...

2. What is the overall aim to poisoning a city already poisoned(Detroit too) for years? I mean, do they mean to blow it up w/few regular people left in it so the elite can claim resources under both cities someday?( really can't think of anything worse)

3. This stuff is happening everywhere too not just Michigan- each city/state has it's own problems creeping in every corner- when are the elite gonna be done destroying this once great nation and start rebuilding?

Makes you wonder just how much they're hiding. Last summer I watered the garden from the mains on a hose - I never normally do this, there's always e enough rainwater. All the plants I watered died off, even potatoes. I felt pretty rundown that summer, I'm sure it was the mains water.

I've been wondering if it's safe to drink rainwater here. Must say it's crystal clear, and I'm near the west coast so it comes straight from the Atlantic, doesn't pass over any polluted areas.

Im next to flint in flushing and know a few people in flint. The problem started wayyy deeper then you can imagine. Corrupt officals working in the dpw worked for both flint and detroit dpw. A few years ago i had a buddy not able to pay his water bill and had it shutboff because his bill was 100$ no matter what. This was 3-4 years ago with detroit water. Flint tried to change from detroit to water to their own supply. The pipes have not been used in so long the chlorine and other chemicals is erroding the lead pipes sending into the tap water. Flint has already been sued and it will xontinue to bankrupt a already bankrupt city

The city that I live in has so much chlorine in the water it turns my bath tub green. I can smell it sometimes when the water's coming out of the tap, it smells like bleach. If I leave a white facecloth soaking for a while it will have a greenish tinge. No other city I have ever lived in has been like this, I've never had a green bath tub and a green sink before just because of the water.

Exactly
*Our Mexican community is close to none.
*There is dead bodies found all the time in that wonderful Flint river water they were pumping into our houses.
*And Flint is far from the 'crack' capitol
In fact crack is barley an issue in this community. Heroin is at eppidemic porpotions though

FAR too many things like this are kept hidden and swept under a rug.

Not saying it was good or bad....but back in the day there were groups of people (could be called vigilantes) that would go around and make visits to these types of people and give them a couple of options like moving away from the area, stop performing these acts, or wind up in the bottom of a pond with concrete shoes......I know its not right, but it worked.

Being from the south, one of these groups was the KKK. They weren't 'haters' of blacks.....they just actually wanted to maintain order. Haven't seen any active KKK rallies since the early 80s and I have never heard of any hangings, etc in a hundred years in my area, but I have heard of the group of multiple occasions in the 50s, 60s, 70s, going to molesters houses and dragging them out and beating them nearly to death. Also heard of them going to man's house who beat his children...didn't harm a hair on his head but told him that if his wife or kids ever had another mark on them that would be the last time....I heard he never touched them again.

So, what does all of this mean....well, our 'law' system is good but maybe just a little soft for these types of criminals. There were other systems that kept these people in check and not that they are not around they are running rampant....enjoy the history lesson.

Re: Flint, Mich. So much lead in children’s blood they’ve declared a state of emergency
City officials insist Flint’s water is safe, even if it looks unappealing.

Mayor Dayne Walling, a Flint native, says he drinks the water. Walling allows the “perception persists” that the river remains polluted from toxins left behind by heavy industrial activity in the past, but says it’s cleaner than it has been for years, he said.
[link to patch.com]

Do a Google image search for 'Flint water' and you will see many images of just how bad your drinking water can get

And when looking at those images of that disgusting water, keep in Mind we all pay at least $100 a month for our water. & that's just the bare basics amount.
Main reason its so high is because the city improperly raised water and sewer rates by 35 percent in 2011 and added a 'readiness-to-serve' charge, which amounts to about $57 per monthly, per customer.

Who the hell knows wtf that charge pays for but it sure was a nice way for a broke city that pays their public officials way to much for sitting on their thumbs, to extort more money from the public. Then when they get called out for their actions, saying its not their fault & its our job as the public to pay to have all this fixed.

And people are suing for 2 sperate things. 1 because the effects of lead is irreversable. Most people bought & continue to buy bottled water to drink. But it goes far beyond just drinking water. Most thought it was OK to cook with the water since your boiling it (right?) & we Have to shower in it & water our animals & wash our clothes. All while getting saturated with copious amounts of lead. And thanks to Obama for signing a bill that makes collecting rain water illegal.

& 2 to get back money they payed on bills that was illegal extorted from us without any notice or fesable explanation at all. Just 32 to 100 within a month. Pay it or they gladly shut your ass off with a smile on their faces.

I think most of GLP can see a clear picture from this all
We're the testing ground for all this shit. Coming to a city near you.
But we all knew this year's ago
The smart ones with the money to do so have already got set up with water collection & filtration because we all KNEW something like this would be coming our way. This should be a wake up call for all of you to secure your own fresh drinking water

I tend to just hush, observe, and research info I read unless I am sure of the truth residing undeniably in my word so it may be repeated in a way as to contribute or if I have a good question.. This leads me to comment bout 2 times a year. That being said:
I have been to MI. This exact area, and I noticed everyone there has a dull look in their heavily dark circled eyes. It really stood out. Their eyes. Even beautiful women and professional men who appear well taken care of have dark circles that would take the rest of us a month of no sleep to obtain. The mood changes on a dime there. It is creepy. I did not know the water was bad. Is this why the folks there have such odd eyes?

You're on the West Coast and think rain comes from the Atlantic, which is on the East Coast? Weather moves from west to east so your theory won't hold water.

However, if you meant to say the rain came over the Pacific Ocean to the West Coast, you would be correct. The only problem with that is it would carry radiation from Fukushima.

Yup, we're screwed no matter which way we look.

Honestly, I don't think lead is as big a deal as they say it is.

But this is still a problem, of course.
