Star Wars: The Force Awakens......IS EPIC!!!

I haven't read any of the books in the expanded universe. My oldest has, and he thinks this looks great, and follows the story; even if the names seem to be changed. He and I are both convinced that Kylo Ren is Jason Solo, and some of the things I have read *Spoilers* would suggest this.

I don't think it's that at all.

It's just the constant drum-beat of "white males bad." And the replacing of lead characters that were traditionally white with ones that aren't.

I do agree the constant barrage of hate towards white males needs to go. But, saying black actors should star as gorillas and not people is just as racist as hating white males. This is Scifi. None of it based on earth. Half of the characters aren't even human. Anything can be considered acceptable. There doesn't have to be any agenda to cast non-whites or non-males in a lead role.

I love this sudo racism this movie is stiring up.. All you idiots bitching about the hero is black, you do realize that this is a FICTIONAL movie that takes place in a make believe universe..

A universe where some of the greatest characters include 7 ft tale walking dogs, giant slugs, 3 ft tall big eared 900 yr old wizard.. Aliens of from 1000's of world in all shapes, sizes and colors..

A universe where cloning, hyperspace travel, and robotic AI are not only mastered but are everyday things..

A universe where the most powerful weapon can destroy a entire planet or maybe a entire solar system (spoiler?)..

BUT a universe where a black hero is unacceptable..

I do agree that black actors should not be treated like that. And that this is sci-fi so anything goes. But with something this big, it seems like an obvious agenda. Especially considering it's pairing the leads as a black male with white female. Why not a black male lead and an Indian female lead?

I know the entire plot line, I wont spoil it for you but you are barking up the right tree.

Here's the $64,000 question:

Seeing as how most of the people wanting to see this will be white males -- at least that'll be the largest demographic going to see it ... then why change the lead male from white to black.

And if it needs to be "updated" for a more multi-culti time, then why not make the lead female Indian, Vietnamese, etc.?

Probably because of who these two characters are related too? There doesn't have to be some sinister agenda because it's different than an all white cast. Good grief, this is as bad as the MSNBC chick thinking Star Wars is racist because when Darth Vader had a black actor doing his voice he was the bad guy, but when he turned good the actor was white. Nobody would care if it was an Asian male with a white woman, or an Hispanic, or a Jew, or an Arab, or an Indian, or even a gay person of all things since none of those other groups are violent and savage to the extent that the blacks are.

Blacks are violent and 97-98% of them are filled with hate towards everyone not black. Blacks are filled with such intense hate that they will only stop when every non-black is their slave, subjugated, or dead.

For the record, I do not want blacks dead-I just do not want to be around them or be exposed to them and their behavior. All other ethnicities - Jew, Asian, Hispanic, Indian, etc.. are fine by me....

We just don't effing care when it comes to this movie. I really don't, it is Disney, and to be expected to some degree. They have spent the last 30 years portraying White male heros and sneaking penis imagery into my daughters movies.... I can deal with a black guy in a lead role especially if he can play the part.

In this Campbell soup commercial we have two gay men promoting stars wars to their "son" at the dinner table.

I want to add something else here, a bit off topic.

Although many of us are vehemently agreeing and disagreeing with one another I welcome the debate and discussion.

In many other avenues such discussion is not even permitted but not only is it permitted here, it is actually welcomed - which is one of the many reasons I love GLP.
