Happy and sad for you OP. My little guy, Herman, is at my feet right now. Can't imagine 3 dogs attacking him. That nutcase will screw up, then justice will be served. God bless you for protecting the neighborhood.hf

Thanks so much for letting us know the resolution on that sad story. I remember when that happened. Poor little guy.

Irresponsible dog owners are the worst. Your neighbor sounds just awful. So glad the system could see it that way and that she is having consequences for being such a bad citizen.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a much, much better New Year.

I wouldn't get so over the top wishing those 3 dogs get euthanized.

A large portion of larger dogs will attack and kill smaller ones. Do they need to die too?

Now seeing this old hag in jail for 6 months.........I don't have a problem with that part. Blame her for it, not the dogs.

Glad that you got a small measure of justice, Chrit. Happier still that you were able to maintain your self control through this.

Think I asked before, but not sure. Was your leash citation for a city code, or ORC? If it was Ohio Revised Code, please look at your citation and give me the code number. There is probably a clause in it that specifies "or" reasonable control. In your wife's arms is certainly reasonable control. Not at all sure that citation would prevent further action.
 Quoting: Nine's

I don't have it right now, but ya reasonable control ORC. The issue was it happened in the neighbors front yard so we obviously lost control for a time. We were committing a trespass, this is why if I would have claimed a bite I was guilty.

I am grateful for what seems to be a resolution. I remember all of this and still keep your family in my prayers. It was truly a horrible incident.

I hope, with time, you will only remember the good times you all had with your little doggie. That dog was a real trooper. Much love sent your way.

I can't believe we won. They almost sent the lady to blow because she was still drunk from the night before. Contempt of court to show up drunk....

Now that the cops know she drives drunk, her time is limited.

She might just serve that 6 months, time will tell.

She does not have the money to keep the dogs, I suspect they will be dead before the 6 months to comply are up.

The insurance your neighbor will have to pay, she won't be able to afford. Especially since there was a case against the dogs and the insurance company will ask that. I knew someone who had to get that insurance and it was over 800.00 per dog. I can't remember if that was per year or per month. Her insurance was high due to the previous problems with her dogs. They were high risk for the insurance company.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71015401

You can get 350,000 to 500,000 liability coverage in Ohio for between 4 and 5 hundred a year for one (GSD) dog with no record of bites, aggression, never cited, no complaints, no running at large, etc. In other words, no criminal record.

With 3 dogs and a record on them, she'll be lucky to touch any insurance for under 2,500. to 3 thousand a year...if she's lucky and can get someone to accept her.

I am so sorry about your little dog, Chrit. And, I hope you do remember the good memories with your dog and that there is (I believe) a doggie area in heaven. (The Bible mentions animals in heaven many times- that's why.)

And, I'm glad the court turned out okay. Did the judge make her pay punitive (to punish) damages, or was the $1,200 the punitive damages? If the judge ruled that way so that it won't happen again to anyone else, then that was probably the punitive, right?

Anyway, Praise the Lord for what's right and good. She sounds like a rough one, eh?

And, why is it that the most irresponsible dog owners have the most dangerous pets?

Re: Well GLP You did it! You helped me win my court case where my neighbor killed my dog with intent.
We won the court case, settled with a plea-bargain we were happy with, so it will not be public record.

Thanks in part to some very good brainstorming, GLP (and some darn good members who took the time to help) came up with a simple solution that the prosecution latch on to. GLP's Idea:We need to make the case about keeping the neighborhood safe for the 12+ children under 7 years old who play on the street and in the city park across from my house, not about my dog who was killed. We were seconds away from dismissal, but the argument was valid and after that it almost went to trial. Judge told the lady if it goes to trial and she lost the case all her dogs would be put down that same day. So she took the plea-bargain.

She got 6 months jail with a suspended sentence. Owes me the 1200+ in vets bills, has to file her two outside dogs as dangerous. Has to carry extra insurance on them. Has to comply with a state mandated secure fence in the next 6 months (not cheap). If she gets caught letting her dogs out again in the next two+ years she will serve that 6 months in jail and they will kill all the dogs. If she does not comply with the court order in the next 6 months she will go to jail.

I’ll do a quick summary for those who don’t remember the whole thing.

My dog got loose, wife was chasing him. The dog has a cat bell on, neighbor heard the cat bell and opened the front door and sicked her dogs on my wife and the 7lb dog. Wife was ok, but the dogs as a pack tore the dog from her arms and ripped him to shreds. The drunk slosh neighbor was laughing the whole time, never tried to stop the dogs. They bit our little guy till he did not move, he was paralyzed and took three days to die. This was not the first time they had attack but I had to make sure it was the very last time. We called the cops knowing we were going to get a ticket for no leash, but had to get the entire thing documented so it was done once and for all.

One last thing that really helped was she lied multiple times in court. Just weird lies, odd stuff. Judge was not amused with the entire thing.

This was the thread where we found the little guy who changed our lives. Thread: I need GLPs help on a “lost dog” in my possession UPDATED pic on page 2

Then this was when the attack happened. When the bitch let her 3 80LB untrained pit/rot mix dogs out without collars/tag/shots thinking she was just killing another cat in the neighborhood when instead it was my wife with her dog. Thread: my face is torn open, my dog might be dead.(he passed at 1:52 EST 7/26/15 in my wifes arms) Thank you ALL for the support.

Want to hear the screwed up part?

I have for 8 years plowed her drive for free (I do the entire street for free).

Pulled 3 stuck cars a year out (on average) of her yard for just as long.

Mowed her yard, cleaned out her drainage ditches.

Repaired her lawn mower free.

gave her free fencing for her dogs, her yard was fenced in, why the F were they out!

Supplied her with two large kennels free.

Not part of my life to just wave and do nothing when say her grandma is stuck in the ditch, I help people. But I have been advised not to ever go on her property again. Her "free lawyer" threatened me, let him dig her out next time.

I remember this. It broke my heart. I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. It had to be so hard to relive that moment over and over by having to go to court.

I can't tell you how happy I am that the judge paid attention and did what was right.

I remember when you found that little fella. He was so cute and so precious and I was so grateful he'd found a family to live out his days with.

I'm also happy to know that this woman will be held accountable from now on. It doesn't do much to ease the pain of loss, but at least we know that others will not have to endure the same horrible pain that you and your family have had to endure.
