Cheney advised Bush daily on national security matters daily at 7:30 each morning. Also little known is that when Cheney supposedly 'disappeared,' he was often doing secret hospital or family visits to our military who had either been wounded or killed. This information wasn't revealed until after Bush and Cheney left office. Bush and Cheney had a deep respect for the members of our military and for the great sacrifices they made.
