Are you talking about those black filed birth certificates? My mom had, mine it burn up, the others were destroyed in a state fire. A lot of our family were born at home, and no state nurse or doctor.
One of my sisters never had a name on the record, some her have girl instead of boy on records and the boy instead of girl, very confusing because they are totally fake, it really could not be their records. How could it be with so many mistakes. Birth Certificates are kind of relatively new in history of the US. Mom and Dad never had on, was not recorded period.
Quoting: hankie not sure which post you are addressing but those "black filled" ones are copys of a microficshe from what Ive been told. the only one like that Ive seen is my grandfathers. his is called a "Delayed certificate of Birth" because he didnt get one until way later when they said he had to have one for something or another. when my dad went to get a passport, they would not accept his original BC (with original ink footprint AND raised gold seal!) he had to get another one from vital statistics which is also labeled Certificate of Birth so he has two different ones. the original on parchment paper and the vital stat one on bond paper. I only have a COLB but plan to try to get a BC soon just to see what info it has on it compared to my COLB
