Anyone ever take oregano oil at the first sign of a cold?
I bought oregano oil a few months ago and left in in my refrigerator for situations such as this one. My question is, how do you take it?(how many drops, what do you mix it with) Any side effects? Does it actually help reduce cold symptoms and longevity of the cold?

Oil of oregano is an anti-bacterial and one of the best and versatile weapons you can have in your possession to fight off all sorts of infections.

It is, indeed, good for fighting off colds. Since you've not taken it before, I'd suggest starting with 4 drops in 6 oz of water every 4 hours or so. It should also help clear up your sinuses. I often put the drops directly beneath my tongue, as that is the fastest way to absorb it, but be warned - it's strong and it burns. I eat very spicy food, so it doesn't really bother me to do that.

If you can't tolerate ingesting it, you can rub 3 drops into the arch of each of your feet. That also is a quick absorption area. ***edit: do this every 4 hours also

If you have any ginger root in your house, steep it in boiling water for 20 minutes and drink the tea. That will also help.

And bump up your garlic consumption big time.

Hope you conquer this soon! hf

Thanks for the info! I am a huge spicy food person but I have read that putting drops under your tongue is actually dangerous and can actually burn your mouth. Scares me a bit. I think ill try and add it to some water and chug it down. Thanks again!

YW! And I agree with AC, I forgot to say if you have or make your own colloidal silver (if you don't, you should!), that is another one where just a few drops in a glass of water goes a long way. :)

I drop a full dropper into mouth under tongue 4 times per day. I hold it there for about 3 minutes drink some water and swish and swallow. I also take a liquid Vitamin D single drop on tongue once per day.

I do this all winter until cold and flu season have passed.

It tastes satanic so it must be good, hehe, I put four or five drops in an organic capsule and wash it down with a good glug of water or milk or juice, it burns like hell otherwise. But if you do that a couple of times a day and take vit D3 you can stop a cold, flu or many diseases and viruses in their tracks. Its amazing stuff

Re: Anyone ever take oregano oil at the first sign of a cold?
I learned about oregano oil from GLP about 8 years ago. Since then it has been a staple in our house.
OO is great not only for colds, but lung infections, the flu and all kinds of illnesses.
It is a great topical ointment for infections and cuts. It also works on warts. My son had big warts on his feet and we tried all kinds of things, they just kept spreading. So we tried OO - put it all over his feet at night and then cover his feet with socks. After 10 days the warts were gone and have never came back. That was at least 6 years ago.

OO is awesome stuff and definitely a must have for any bug-out bag or survival supplies.

Oil of Oregano is garbage.

Why not just take D3 (10000IU), and Lipsomal Vitamin-C (3000mg+)?

Re: Anyone ever take oregano oil at the first sign of a cold?
everyone responds differently to substances, so it's folly to come on a forum and ask how much or how to take something, esp something as concentrated as an essential oil. several years ago i accidentally put 3 drops (it came out too fast) of it in water and drank it down. i could barely breathe afterwards and thought i was going to asphyxiate. these days i gargle with it, which still gets it into the body.

I always take it in capsule form- easier to swallow down. You get some pizza like burps later, but that's the only side affect I have ever noticed. Great for anything respiratory. peace

Re: Anyone ever take oregano oil at the first sign of a cold?
Forgot to add - don't wait for the first sign of a cold.
If you go out into the public and hang out in large groups for hours - when you get home take some.
I always take some after flying, or after being in a large group -especially if you are shaking hands and talking to many people. It's just good practice to keep the germs at bay.
I put 2 or 3 drops in a little water - just enough water to drink quickly - like you would do a shot of liquor - just throw it back quickly and swallow.
Keep another glass of water on hand to wash it down.

OO is one of natures gifts to keep us healthy.

I have used Oregano, but since I have been taking 10,000inits of D3 and 5,000 K2, I haven't had a cold.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Re: Anyone ever take oregano oil at the first sign of a cold?
Be careful. The are two types. Full strength has too strong of concentrated turpines for the human body. You want pre-mix at 75/25.

Use it equal parts with Oil of White Thyme. Same 75/25 mix.

Most people are allowed 15 shot glasses of 20ppm colloidal silver every 2 months and stay well under EPA guidelines.

When any cold, flu or infection is noticed:
4-5 drops OOO Capsule or onto small folded square of bead.
4-5 drops OWT Capsule or onto small folded square of bead.
3 hots silver Morning Noon Night

Same for tooth/sinus/ear infection. For ear put drops onto
cotton ball. Blot off all excess and tape onto outside of ear
overnight. Never put into ear. Don't allow to drip into ear, blot hard. The vapor works fine from the
outside of ear.

Seek an oil manual for anyone low in body wight.(160#-) Never give to children under the age of 12.(allergic reaction potential)

Re: Anyone ever take oregano oil at the first sign of a cold?
I take oil of Oregano pills everyday. why would anyone subject themselves in putting the actual oil under their tongue? Ouch! and Yeck!

I only use the actual oil for bug bites, the first sign of a cold sore (stops it every time), and any rash or allergy that may show up on my skin. It kills everything. I sometimes use a drop with coconut oil for oil pulling.

This stuff is the bomb!!! ......

But.....I doubt it's going to ward of a cold once you already have it. It may end it quicker, but you need to start taking it everyday for the real benefits. Get ready to never get sick again....or hardly.

It even works for people who suffer from migraines. I know, because I talked a friend into taking it, who suffers from migraines 2/3 times a month, but now only gets them once every so often. She thanks me every time I see her. :)

I too learned all about the oil from GLP. I love this place!!

Re: Anyone ever take oregano oil at the first sign of a cold?
I have my own trick...at the first sign of a cold, take an Airborne tablet (dissolved in water like the directions say) and also a vitamin D/K tablet. Knocks it right out. I'm a teacher so I am exposed constantly. My husband didn't believe me until he, also, tried it. I think, though, if it already has a good hold upon you it probably won't make you get over it, though, as I was gone a couple of days and caught a cold and took the Airborne/D mix when I got home and it didn't seem to do anything. Catch it right when you get the first signs.

Yes, but use 3 drops to one teaspoon of olive oil. Use it for sore throats if I am coming down w/something. Also good in a steamer with sinus problems (but also use thyme, cinnamon and clove). This plus Vit. D3 and C.

Same here. Got mine from Greece as well. It took 2 weeks to arrive but boy this OOO is strong! I would put 1 drop in a 16oz water bottle and chug. Do this 2-3 times daily to get rid of a cold.
